Frontal safety questionable. Ace load truck front panel is not metal but moulded fiber glass. Tata added any steel beam re-inforcement in passeger van version?

Cost cutting by using Common parts. High volume (by consumption of common parts ) can also get better quality hoefully!

Awesome product. Just price all the variants between 2-3 lakhs and it is a given this can sell around 6000 cars per month. I also think electric versions of these are supposed to be sold to USPS through Chrysler america. Now FIAT owns chrysler and so they can market it globally if TATA pull it through.

So finally Omni after selling for decades without competition will have some company, Maruti should be worried. Diesel engine would be an advantage to rural customers who do not have access to CNG and LPG.

From the little thats visible of the headlights/grill I think the front will be similar to the 1ton Ace revealed at the last Expo.
A big disadvantage of the Omini was that the 800cc engine was too weak to power an AC, this should be sorted in the 'Tata Pelican' with the 70 bhp TDI engine.
Since the Omini is soon to be discontinued once the new crash test regulations are introduced and the Versa almost dead, this van will the segment all to itself.

Great work Tushky and thanks for the additional inputs Sidindica.

A couple of questions.

Will this vehicle be under 4 meters?
Will the engine be BS 4 compliant?

And, will it be sold from their passenger or the commercial vehicles showroom?

I guess it should be about the same size as the Tata Ace (3800 mm)

As far as the competition goes there is the Premier Sigma with the TUD-5 diesel engine.

IMO, this can never be a competition for the Omni. At least I think so.

TDi Diesel will pass BSIV ? and CRDi are costly engines.

Friends,

TATA already has a van version of the Ace called the Magic (shown below). All this seems to be a version without the tarpaulin and plastic that it comes with today and replaced with metal. Don't you think so?

Or is this an upgraded version of the Magic?

I guess the new van is based on the Tata Super Ace.
Is the 70bhp Tdi diesel engine the same as in the Super Ace???

Sidindica, does the front view of the van look like this??

Scoop!! Tata Ace Van..Killer Of Omni.-114881.jpg

If it comes in at under 4L with all creature comforts (AC, PS etc) it'll be fantastic. Perfect for the family. Omni, be scared

So the smoke is visible, fire must be very close

I would reserve my opinion about the picture posted. There may be some surprise when the black covers are removed.

The interiors and engine are same as ACE 1T(on). Looks like

(ace):(magic)::(ace-1T):(project pelican/microbus).

This is going to be one superhit formula with cabs.

cross posting interior pic of ACE-1T from an old thread.

I too believe that this is an updated version of the Magic. One of my uncle owns this. Very spacious. The body can be build on Magic too.

the ace currently retails at 3.2 lakhs i guess. that is just engine and metal. considering this, the van will cost above 4.5 lakhs with seats, a/c, p/s etc?
