Doesnt a cheap pickup Xylo version hamper the brand positioning of Xylo?

Is this using the new smaller diesel engine being talked about in the 5-seater xylo thread?

It looks awful.
But I would love wearing a gorilla costume, and going around in a black one.

This seems to be a product clearly for the export markets. If we look at the M&M lineup in markets like South Africa, they have double cab, pickup formats using the Scorpio cabin. But surely this has not affected any sales in the domestic market.

Hence it may be a move to marry the Xylo cabin to a pickup. This will ensure that the pickup gets better ergonomics and newer styling from Xylo cabin. This can pass off as a brand new product for them as well!!

IMHO, Mahindra has done a decent job in distinguishing XYLO pickup from the MUV versions!

Pick-up might not affect MUV sales because it adds to the toughness factor of an MUV/ SUV. Scorpio also has the Getaway pickup, but doesnt seem to be affected by that image at all! (Unlike taxi image of Indica which is a huge negative!)

Remains to be seen how Mahindra designs the hatch though!

I feel this facelift will be carried on to the Xylo or the mini-Xylo with body coloured plastics. can anyone do a rendering?

Anything would look better than the bread box on wheels. It will be interesting to see what the complete vehicle looks like and also after that reflective white tape comes off. I thought that they would do a twin cab given the fact that they are aiming these pick ups at the export markets in a big way, maybe that would follow.

+1 to that Raj. I find this design much better than the hideous beast called Xylo (owners, please don't feel bad). M&M, please redo the front end of the Xylo
