Great looking Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck

This is the first Volkswagen pickup truck after Caddy. Caddy was built between 1980 to 1995 which was a small pickup truck based upon VW Group A1 platform.

Amarok in my opinion looks fantastic. Didnt like the interior too much but the exteriror is just amazing and look solid.

It can tow upto impressive 5,600 pounds and haul 2,300 pounds when equipped with VW's 2.0-liter common-rail turbo diesel four-cylinder that's good for 163 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

The full-time all-wheel drive version is a rarity in its class. The Torsen differential distributes drive forces at a 40:60 ratio to the front and rear axles, and this simultaneously assures both excellent vehicle dynamics and high traction. In addition, selective braking interventions in tough terrain ensure that the wheel with the best traction always gets the most engine power. This drive concept is paired with a chassis that was specially tuned for comfort.

The main market for Amarok is South America, Australia and South Africa

I wonder if they ever going to bring it to the Indian shore.

It looks good, very conventional. However, I can't digest the VW logo on that beast. :P

Very nice pictures. The pick up looks good from outside, infact outstanding. Interiors are decent too for a vehicles of it's category. The cool tools at the rear is just outstanding creativity. Nice!!

I heard its coming to UK in September 2010 in the double-cab bodystyle pictured; a single-cab variant will follow in 2011.The Amarok is built in VW's Argentinian factory, but UK-bound models will have a Euro-friendly 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine - available with 161bhp or 120bhp.

Nice scoop NullRock!

It looks very meaty and butch! The integrated tool-kit looks fantastic!

Is there a chance that VW has based this Truck on the Touareg's platform/underpinnings?

it will be launched in the UAE in the first quarter of 2010.

it will be launched in diesel 2.0 ltr engine, since diesel is expensive than petrol in the uae, i would have liked it in petrol engine!

anyway way, its a good truck im sure since it comes from VW. though it will have to fight its way to match Toyota Hilux!

Now this is a pickup truck I'd like to have!Looks apart, it has decent specs. Not meaning to be biased, but I would much rather liked it if it were a Jap car maker, than VW.

Great scoop!!

It looks very butch and has great presence. The interior seems solidly built too with great fit and finish.

But it looks more like a Dodge than a VW

Looks nice, I really like the Axe holder at the back.

Also after watching the race VW Tuareg at the Dakar and the Rally De Soertoes, I would probably drool a little more consciously at the VW than my usual subconscious drooling at the Toyabota ( aka Toyota Hilux, I know its the other way around)

The only thing I find interesting is why does the fuel lid look like its been morphed on the wheel arches. Is this a concept or does it really work.

From what I've heard, it's built on an all new platform.
