TVS 4 seater rickshaw - SUPER!

Hey Guys,

Just got this in my mailbox..

I vaguely remember someone here had mentioned about doing a project similar to this.

Pictures are from India, any info on the source?

How practical is this ? (Looks good, of course)

How can people travel in this rick thru the rains?
Only very few female passengers would be interested in sharing the front-seat with the auto-pilot, at least in Kerala.

Not the case in Chennai atleast upto my knowledge.

This looks good but open area is huge & doubt even if it could protect the passengers from sun ( surely it don't while raining).

What's the price range? That's more important.

they wont mind if the auto drivers are handsome though, will flock to get into the front seat along with the driver !!!so there is the simple solution, get good looking drivers if u need to get in more females..
ya looks pretty cool though, anything will be better than the current running ricks ..

It would be a good vehicle for personal use I guess. If it can be launched with an Hybrid engine and priced competitively, it sure can give competition to M800.

I had seen a similar looking BMW vehicle in some magazines.

What say? Any info on the source of this pictures? The pictures are from some Auto Show in Delhi or North India. Can any one confirm this..

Is this just a concept model or is TVS serious of getting it in production. Last news was that TVS is entering the 3 wheeler market by end of Dec 05.

It looks like a concept model but It looks very good for a rick. It feels generations ahead of the current bajaj ricks.
Anybody has more info about it?

These are pics taken at the previous Auto Expo where this vehicle was exhibited. It was just a teaser/concept vehicle. This vehicle now lies in TVS R&D where I had a chance to look at it in detail.

The real TVS autorickshaw will likely be similar to the Bajaj RE although much more efficient and more spacious. Also the vehicle shown has a lot of composites and plastics in it...the real vehicle will not have any plastic for body panels and other critical areas....

Thats a really nice design. I may be wrong but I guess it was designed by Rajesh Mirajkar, though not sure.

A sofa seat in the rear makes it an interesting proposition as than you can seat 4. The women can sit in the back like they do presently.

I believe Honda is also thinking of designing a rick using the Eterno engine.

Hey Rishi,
I saw one in a metallic blue paint job at an auto expo at the Chennai Trade Centre about a year or so ago. Had security guys around it and we were not allowed to touch it!!
Was told that it had a hybrid engine, where it would do 10kms on petrol and then 50kms on battery power, and that the body was made up of some composite material to make it light, yet strong, and would thus give more mileage. had no info then, on when, it would be planned for production if at all!!
