AL 12M with BS3 225HP CRS engine

Last day AL received orders from VRL for 100 numbers of its popular 12M bus chassis. And its interesting to note that this new model is powered by new BS3 225HP CRS engine (Common Rail system). With this AL is second to offer CRD technology for buses(Hcv) in India after VolvoB7RM3.

Pls share, if you guys have some info on this.
You mean this story?:-

The Hindu Business Line : Tata Motors to roll out intercity luxury bus

If so, it is good. Coming to think of it, what special does Volvo have, except phenomenal power (engine & brakes?)

Btw, the article mentions Hispano styling; not Hispano.

Re: The Indian Bus Scene (Discuss new launches and market info here)

What do you mean Hispano styling not Hispano??

FYI Hispano Carrocera is a bus body building company, they do not produce chassis or engines etc. So their primary job is the styling and interiors etc.

Hispano Carrocera SA is now a fully owned subsidiary of TATA MOTORS now. Its named as TATA HISPANO. The bus body designed by Hispano is built at ACGL (JV between TATA MOTORS & EDC, GOA)

Not only power and brakes . Volvo has something more . Apart from the initial cost the TCO is very much low . The engine lasts atleast 10 lakh kms , the drive train is virtually bullet proof ,airconditioner is integrated , has more space for cargo ,retarder ..etc etc ..

greatmana, that is true, but in george_kj's thread, it was mentioned that a normal service for Volvos cost 43K. What is the service interval? (I mean, in KMs?)

Wow! Thats one really good looking, well finished product! Wonder why KSRTC (both)/BMTC/MTC were not interested in such products for their city operations.

Quite a clean design. Notice the freshly removed wraps from the side glass.

Re: The Indian Bus Scene (Discuss new launches and market info here)

Dont know about the clean design. Somethings that I didnt like about the design.

1. The wheel caps look too tacky. The standard matt finish wheels used by TML and Volvo look much classier.
2. The wheels seem to be buried deep in the wheel wells, the bus seems to have been made knowingly wide.
3. The window arrangement around the driver's door is really odd.
4. The RVM seem like an afterthought.
5. The headlight seem like overstyling on a bus with as simple a design as this. Though they have just used the light fixtures they use everywhere else to save costs.

Who builds these buses for ALL, Do they have any dedicated bus body building facilities??
