Re: Railway Pics

Indian Railways is undertaking the massive exercise to keep not just the trains and stations clean but also ensure cleaning of tracks on a regular basis. To help in the mammoth exercise, 'track cleaning machines' have been introduced by Northern Railways. Currently these machines operate in Delhi, but have also been sent to Lucknow and Varanasi on a pilot project basis.

It is a self propelled track maintenance machine. It can also haul along a couple of coaches or wagons as well.

This one looks like a ballast machine.

This is not really required except one-time. What is needed is instilling the swach bharat principles in Indians, and strict enforcement against rubbish, or any other thing.

There is no point spending crores if we don't keep our surroundings clean.

Till IR fits bio toilets in all coaches, this is required.

We're talking different things - my point was about the main stations where its NOT about the bio toilets but plain old littering. What you mention is a second order issue to me.

Even "educated" people throw waste plastic bottles on the platform itself than walk 20m to the dustbin.

I've lost count of the number of times I've seen village women make their child urinate or defecate ON the platform itself.

Or any underpass is by default a public urinal. We're Indians after all.

All of these behaviors make Indian railway stations an extremely dirty and unhygienic place to be.

Re: Railway Pics

Was checking out the differences between LHB (Durunto Fame) & ICF coaches; Stumbled upon this website with loads of technical info. Thought of sharing !!

http://icfbogie.com/

Though there needs to be improvements in material selection & overall flush in coach design, I hope all ICF will be replaced with LHB sooner.

AFAIK the Rajdhanis also have LHB coaches.
In 1st AC the ICF coaches used to have 18 berths whereas LHB has 22 berths.
There was more legspace in the ICF ones and a wash basin between seats.

Well captured ! The loco seems to be both - poised perfectly at the crossing, -or nonchalantly ambling up the track, with no one daring to question it's progress !
