CRLM had these proper platforms from over a year for sure. But the announcements might have come up recently as I don't remember hearing them in May last year. What has to change next is the surroundings - it's quite a mess outside with cabs, ricks and minibuses, and hardly any space.

Another station that has a lot of potential once the nearby areas are improved, is Banaswadi.

That GZB-WAP7 is just doing short duties in its spare time. It is now a regular link for the 22691 Bengaluru Rajdhani which gets this loco for the entire journey unlike before where it used to get a electric loco (LGD-WAP7) from Secunderabad onwards.

The said technique is being deployed on all the WAG - 9 class of electric locomotives belonging to the Nagpur shed.

The Nagpur shed has been doing this since April, and it has managed to save 1.06 crore units of electricity so far. Indian Railways have 272 WAG - 9 in its arsenal, out of which 140 belong to Nagpur.
As far as I know, Nagpur does not have any loco shed - Diesel or Electric. I think you meant AJNI electric loco shed. It is the closest to Nagpur Jn.

Re: Railway Pics

Had been on a long train spotting trip last week. I will post some photos and videos from the trip, but first up is a unique video from konkan railway.

Konkan Railway runs roll on - roll off (Ro-Ro) services for transporting trucks which is very popular amongst truckers. Seen here is one such Ro-Ro rake being loaded with trucks at Surathkal, which is the southern terminal for the Ro-Ro service. One end of this siding has a ramp for trucks to climb into the wagons. Wagons are connected by metal sheets to enable trucks to move from one wagon to another. The trucks are then chained to the wagon to ensure they don’t move.

Re: Railway Pics

First leg of the trip was from Mumbai to Yeshwanthpur by Chalukya express.

Crossing a passenger service

Single line sections allow to enjoy crossings at wayside stations - it is an enjoyable experience for me

The crossing train approaches on a gradient...

It is another passenger from Bangalore to Hubli with a WDP-4D as its power!
Railway Pics-26551577949_0998d23503_b.jpg

A few videos of crossings from the journey:

Bangalore - Ajmer express headed by original EMD manufactured (imported into India) WDP-4 #20006 crosses our Chalukya express at Desur near Belgaum. Turn up the volume and Enjoy melodious honking of original EMD. Horns of the newer locos are nowhere as melodious as these!

We were looped immediately after Davangere, I guess the station was Tolahunse. After a wait of 5 minutes we witnessed this beautiful crossing with Mysore - Hubli Vishwa Manav Express hauled by a KJM WDM-3A with liberal dose of honking!

Kolhapur bound Rani Chennamma express crossed Pondicherry bound Chalukya express at Sambre station near Belgaum. WDG-4 #70075 is the power for Rani Chennamma express. A foolish man talking on cellphone was about to get run over, but saved in the nick of time as passengers from his coach warned him.

One of those few trains on SWR that continue with an Alco link. Most of SWR passenger trains are EMD hauled. KJM shed holds more EMD's than Alco locomotives today.

The run between Arsikere to Hassan is scenic and if you are lucky, quite a bit of freight on this short 50km stretch. Speeds not exceeding 75-80 though.

This train now takes the new Yeshwanthpur - Nelamangala - Channarayapatna - Hassan line. It does not go via Arsikere. There is very sparse traffic on the new line

One of my favourite trains to photograph. Train number 12539/40, Yesvantpur Lucknow SF.

In the second pic, 12540 Lucknow Yesvantpur SF is coming with a KYN WAG 9. The crew were very friendly, flashing headlamps and honking and then waving to us.

First pic, 12539 Yesvantpur Lucknow SF is proceeding to Lucknow with a BL WAG 7.

This train is known to come with offlinks quite often
