Today, I called KOCHI maruti dealer and checked up the exact prices of Maruti Eeco van.

They have three variants. All prices below are ON ROAD PRICES (means Including Road Tax, Insurance, Registration etc)

5 seater Non-AC : 3.25 Lakhs
5 seater AC : 3.65 Lakhs.
7 seater Non-AC : 3.51 Lakhs.

7 seater AC is not available. But, dealer told they can get a genuine maruti AC fitted with warantee (and not loosing any engine warrantee etc from maruti) by spending another Rs. 35,000. So, 7 seater AC : 3.86 Lakhs.

Now we have to wait and see the pricing of Tata Venture.

I also note that although the rear doors are the sliding type, Tata have done away with the railing that the door runs on which spoils whatever look is there for the van !

I find many are disappointed by
1) the same face of the venture and super-ace.
2) Lack of bonnet projection (nose) in front

None of the above are disappointing me. Only the pricing I am looking for.

The venture brochure is seen in :
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/commer...a-venture.html

does it mean that it is launched in Jaipur alone ? So silently !!

This vehicle is going to be a grand success for sure, just like ACE. More takers going to be from TAXI segment.

and it looks much better than the ugly Maruti eeecooo!!

Thank you Sid. Always the first one with the news.

This looks like a DC built Omini. Ground clearance looks bad. The power: dimension ratio looks pretty bad too. Well, India will never disappoint TATA motors. I am sure they will find some buyers for this can.

looks sweet, but sadly the wheel-caps look hideous to me; paint quality looks good too. Lets see how do they price this one now. Hope they dont price it on the higher side as they did on the Aria. If priced correctly, it will hurt Eeco badly.

Any expected launch date?

How different this will be from the existing Tata Magic? If I'm not wrong Tata magic + hard roof top on the passenger + comfort features (A/C, consoles etc) = Tata Venture isn't it?

Has anyone heard how the engine sounds on Venture? Does this also sound "tuck tuck" like Tata Ace?

Much needed breath of fresh air in dull and aging taxi segment.

I wonder if TATA would add this in their car or CV sales figures though!!

Any clues on flexible seating, HVAC, Creature comforts etc..?

Sure this may find some takers in personal use segment as well if the above features are included.

It surely looks a lot better then omni. The following are the statistics from maruti's website on OMNI performance :
Maximum Power - 35.0 bhp @ 5000 rpm | Maximum Torque - 6.1 kgm @ 3000 rpm
Given that the Venture will be competing with this It doesnt look bad right?
Tata surely has a winner on its hands here. Whats the expected price of this car?

What makes Venture a better option is the diesel powertrain.
The Omni and Eeco looks very basic compared to venture.
This one will surely find a lot a buyers in the taxi and also personal people mover segments. Will definitely be a hit in the rural parts.

This one is a new addition to the long list of vehicle produced by Tata for the Taxi segment (Indica, Sumo, Indigo). By keeping the design very basic Tata's aim of targetting the rural areas is bound to be well received. This means the roads which are already overflowing with the Nano's, Indica's, Indigo's will now have another Tata stable vehicle.

If priced around the Eeco, this is going to be quite a hit among the city folk as well.
People who have a big family and a budget constraint as well.

As a matter of fact, I see quite a lot of Eecos on the road in urban Bangalore as well.

Edit - Coming to think of it, if my family does not oppose to the status symbol attached to it, I do not mind picking one for the occasional family travel
