Re: Ashok Leyland 12M

Was this the "LIMO FE"? If i am right this chassis does not have any rear overhang. The rear most part of the body is integrated with the chassis.

Re: Intercity Buses operated by various private travels and STUs

One more 12M AshLey bus in stage carriers segment and again this bus is also towards Palani. We already have two 12M buses running towards Palani. One is in Coimbatore-Palani and the other is in Pollachi-Palani route.

TN57 AX 5577. AshLey 12M bus of Palani based operator SRK running in Palani-Madurai route built by AE Coach, Pollachi. This is the first time i'm seeing AE built 12M bus in this segment. Their previous bus is also built by AE. This operator has one more bus in Palani-Coimbatore route. This particular operator was so famous during my college days.

Ashley2,
Saw two more 12Ms in last week in in Pollachi and Palani.

MBS - Mali of Pollachi-Udumalpet route. This should be the shortest 12M route i have seen till date.
Ashok Leyland 12M-dsc_4330.jpg
Sri RaraRajeswari of Palani-Erode via Dharapuram.
Ashok Leyland 12M-dsc_4318.jpg

Following are the routes i remember seeing about 12Ms.
1. Salem-Karur - A 12M AC built by Veera.
2. NMS in Coimbatore-Pollachi
3. Kalaimaghal in Coimbatore-Palani via Pollachi
4. Sri Lakshmi in Pollachi-Palani
5. Vee Vee is operating one 12M City bus based on TML platform in Coimbatore.
6. MBS in Pollachi-Udumalpet
7. Sri RajaRajeswari in Palani-Erode
8. SRK in Palani-Madurai. I think SRK changed their Palani-CBE also. Yet to check it.
9. KTK transports – Trichy
10. Rathimeena - Tanjore
11. KVS in Tuticorin - Tiruchendur route.

Following list of operators based on Dindigul were given my friend Ramesh. Yet to get a clear pic of them.
1. DKT in Dindigul - Karaikudi
2. SMS in Dindigul - Karaikudi
3. JMS in Dindigul - Karaikudi
We can add 4/5 buses to the above list.

So around 20 12Ms were spotted till date. The numbers are getting increased day by day.

This has a rear over hang like conventional buses, but its not cut to make a boot like what other body builders do.

Re: Ashok Leyland 12M

This is the first 12M Intercity bus to get launched in Coimbatore dist. If i'm not wrong this should be the first Non AC 3X2 12M in TN too.

TN66 A 9744 of NMS. It is running in Coimbatore-Pollachi route. Body built by Maaruti Coach, Karur.

Can we add the details about TML 12M city buses in this thread or we can create a separate thread for TML 12M buses?

Do we have any 12M in Coimbatore-Mettupalayam/Erode/Tirupur routes? I guess we have one in Coimbatore-Erode route.

It's better to create a new thread for TML 12m buses or we need to request mods for changing this thread title.

Plz note TM 12m buses are called LPO 1618 or 1612. Most of these buses in stage carriage are 1612. Use the name appropriately for better understanding.

In addition to 1612 & 1618, there is 1616 in the 12m range as well.
And yes, it's better to mention the model for ease of understanding (if sure about the model though) and most of the stage carriers opt for ~132HP mainly due to the cost factor and mileage.

I guess you are speaking about BS IV SLF 1616 given to BMTC. Any way I was speaking about regular products only and not SLF.

Yes, i referred BS IV buses supplied for BMTC.
Got your point as well.
Recently few 1612 12m TML buses were inducted in Coimbatore and many AL 12m buses are hitting the roads.

Re: Ashok Leyland 12M

New 12M Ultra deluxe buses of SETC:
Till 1-Apr-12, It was Zero new ultra deluxe buses with SETC. Eventhough we got 65+ new 48 Seater 12M UDs on AshLey 12M chassis, we cannot claim them as UDs because they were 48 seaters and they didnt have air suspension too. They were actually SD buses but SETC stickered them as UD buses. Once the new govt came in, a big boost was given to SETC with 12M UD buses with air suspension in the rear. TN govt announced that they will procure 6000 new buses. Announcement came in two budget sessions with 3000 buses in each session. SETC will be getting 773(474+299) buses in total. Already 205 new 12M buses hit the road and it also got 33 rebuilt buses. Majority of the 33 rebuilt buses were old 12M AC buses of SETC. All were built by private body builders. Veera, Bangalore Body builders, KMS, Irizar TVS, GS, Arrow, Atal, Gemini, Best, TVR, Royal, REC and Shakti etc., got the order for buidling UD buses for SETC. Below are the pics of UD buses built by different body builders for SETC

(Its completely different issue that, the window panes are there for name sake and wont work after two days of service!!)
