To clarify to everybody,

The figures shared in the beginning of the month are for domestic truck sales only. These does not include Sub5t vehicles, buses and exports. These may vary from official press releases as normally they include buses or exports.

Ashok Leyland sales were down in Oct-10 as they lost market share pan India primarily on heavy push already done in Sep-10 and also the upcoming launch of U-Trucks.

However, on the classification of trucks, SIAM classification is already shared but every company has its own classification of trucks

TML: LCV is 5-7.5t GVW trucks, ICV is 7.6-12t GVW trucks, MCV is 16t GVW Trucks, HCV is 25t and above Trucks

Eicher Motors: LD is 5-12 trucks and HD is >16t Trucks

Internationally Light Duty Trucks are less than 6t GVW Trucks, Medium Duty Trucks are >6t but less than 16t and Heavy Duty Trucks are >16t

Let me make things clear by quoting full sales data of TML for october.

Total sales including exports : 64757
Total domestic commercial vehicle sales : 34329
Total M&HCV domestic sales : 13640
Total LCV domestic sales : 20689
Total passenger car sales (excluding FIAT distribution ) : 24478
Total exports : 5950

And here M&HCV includes everying more than 15ton GVW, buses and trucks. While LCV includes the rest, that is SCVs, LCVs and ICVs. Hope this clears things up with regards to TML.

Eicher and Volvo are in a JV partnership in India.
Similarly Mahindra and Navistar are also having a JV parternership.

Both Indian companies make trucks with their own brand name also and the latter brand name also. Hence figures reported separately for each brand.
