That's one big tyre. Dont want to be stuck behind this ever at a air pump at a petrol pump.

How much does one of these cost anyways? And how long between tyre changes?
I bet they dont believe in tyre rotations.

Well, I am still wondering how will JK Manage to break even, the sales I am not expecting to be more than 20 tyres per year.
I guess it must be more of a momento kind of thing than sales figures that would attract them to manufacture such huge tyres.

I think they will price them accordingly. Since they were imported before which i think attracted a huge duty.

BTW GTO these are called off-highway trucks (not offroad).

Man.....How much time it takes to inflate one of these??
Foot pump anyone???

And look at where the headlights are mounted on that beast.
What the mileage that monster returns??
And is that huge grill hides a radiator that big??
CAT makes engines for these by themselves or get it made by someone else??

Agreed the demand in India may be limited, but surely they can be very competitive in the export segment especially the far east not to mention shorter delivery times.

Fantastic achievement made our country proud, keep it up JK.

Are these machines road legal? Heard somewhere that any machine higher than a certain tonnage is not allowed on highways.

Re: JK Tyres rolls out India's biggest tyre. Weight = 3,700 kilos!

Let me just cite the numbers from just 1 site to give you a rough idea on the scale of operations where this vehicle is used.

Location : Korba, Chattisgarh.
Organization: SECL ( South Eastern Coal Fields )
Mining Capacity : 60 million tonnes/ year ( total reserves of 90Billion MT ).

Apart form using a surface miner ( which again is a humongous vehicle ), 75% mined coal from the seam is transported exclusively via trucks to the stockyard, hoppers and railway sidings.

Close to 1.5Lac MT / day covering a lead of 4kms up/down.

HYWA = 15-20MT
TIP TRAILER = 24-40MT
THE MONSTER = 280MT ( overloaded)

I'll let you do the maths to figure out the number of vehicles in use and distance covered in a month .

Thanks prithvi for posting the details. Didn't knew these beasts were used in India.

Is this tire filled with nitrogen or air? How much will be the tire pressure?

I believe these would be solid tyres but let the experts confirm.

JK's tyre factory (Vikhrant tyres) in Mysore is very close to BEML Mysore(both are in Hebbal Industrial area). I guess it makes sense to manufacture these kind (meaning offroad tyres for earthmovers) close to vehicle factory to reduce transportation costs
