The ECM & Electronics Guy - Rajender (Khan Market, New Delhi)
Work handled: - On-board diagnostics (OBD) issues, ECM repairs, repair of faults related to wiring harness, sensors, warning lamps and electronics.
What I like:- Good, clean work
- Friendly attitude
- Is equipped well for his work
- Tries to solve an issue with dedication, instead of jumping from car to car
What I don't like:- No dedicated shop
- No dedicated parking space. Have to use the Khan Market paid parking, and free slots are not easily available
Pricing:- Steep. But then he's cheaper than having the same work done from an authorized service station (ASS). And ECM replacement costs usually give the best of us a heart attack, so he's worth trying!
Speciality / USP:- Confident about most cars, Indian or imported.
What I have used his services for:- Repaired the faulty ECM of an i20 CRDi of my cousin for Rs.15,000 some months ago (Hyundai ASS had recommended change of ECM & harness for Rs.80,000). Car ran perfectly till it was sold.
- Repaired a close friend's Innova's clockspring ribbon today, which caused the airbag light to stay on, and the horn not to work. Cost Rs.5,000. Also checked for (but could not resolve) an error code (B2799) related to the engine immobilizer system. Has promised to find out a solution for it. Toyota ASS had given an estimate of Rs.12,000 to replace the clockspring, and advised replacing both the ECM and immobilizer to correct the B2799 fault!
