Very true; huge difference in figures from vehicle to vehicle would have certainly made Chevrolet service guys run mad. Therefore Chevrolet likely have masked the feature.
And do I understand that this is Beat - Petrol ?
On a recent check after using FuelLog Android App, I came to know that my Beat - Petrol is delivering just 12.7km / l !!

Will be visiting the CASS soon for the 25k service which is due since 2 months. Will point out this mileage problem. Hopefully it comes to a sensible figure.

Off course my car is Petrol Beat.
Above figures are for drive without AC, load of 3 persons; weight ~240 kg.
Highway; speed ~80 kph, rpm 2200-2400.
City; moving traffic (non bumper to bumper), all gear shifts at or below 2000 rpm.
Petrol - Regular - filled from BPCL COCO Pump.

MMI is giving huge offer only for Beat Custom-Fit 2-Din OE Systems - any reason? Rs. 18K - almost 55% discount!
Hi Salbin , been a huge fan of your DIY , though can try none as I have the PS model.
I am using the MMI device posted by you , here is a picture.

Looks so good!
How much did it cost you?
I feel 18k is a big amount for this, but its sleek and premium looks cover for it I guess.

Those are amazing numbers.

I drive with the A/C on always, with 5 people on board and approx weight to be 350 kg and only highway driving to get a FE of 16.5 on an average.

Re: Chevrolet Beat DIY - Unlocking Features in the Speedo console

Awesome thread! I was so super excited about making the mod in my Beat - Diesel and then realized that it may not work on my car.

So is it now confirmed that this mod wont work on and diesel beat?

Maximum I got till date is 530 kms. I am getting 14.3 kmpl in the city consistently these days (in terrible b2b traffic) with average speed ~25 kmph and 98% City driving.

What would have happened if it was available in Beat diesel as standard? Some lucky souls would have been getting close to 1200 kms range in one tank full (by the way that is more than my monthly running).

Before concluding, someone should clarify few points.

1. Do Beat Diesel ECU relay DTE, average speed, engine running time etc? Scanning tools can confirm this.

2. Did any one mod their 2012/2013 Beat Petrol successfully?

Either it is a Diesel ECU specific (Beat diesel is a custom iteration from 1.3 MJD) or GM India altogether swallowed the hardware/sensors for offsetting inflation

Cheers!

Vinu

Re: Chevrolet Beat DIY - Unlocking Features in the Speedo console

This a terrific DIY!

I own a 2011 Beat TCDi. Already ordered a set 10 switches (pm me if anybody requires switches in Bangalore). Hoping to get lucky, for the fact that my Beat Diesel is 2011 model, finger crossed. Will update soon.

Instead of opening the whole console, try your luck by popping-up the dummy button and short the blank switch base beneath using a flat screwdriver.

Best of luck

Cheers!

Thank you for the tip. Does the dummy switch pop out easily without opening any part of the console? Or do I atleast need to dismantle the front silver part of the console to access it?

Re: Chevrolet Beat DIY - Unlocking Features in the Speedo console

I have been following up this thread meticulously, thanks to Salbin. But my heart sank once I came to know that this won't work in Diesel .
I have 2012 Beat LT TCDi, let me try the popping-up the dummy switch test and update you guys.

Just insert a flat screwdriver at one end of the dummy button from top and tilt slowly. It will pop out.

To prevent scratches you can use a plastic opening tool like one used in mobile repair shop.
