Isn’t there any uniformity in VW assembly line or do they just fix the parts whatever comes in their hand from the parts bin ?
I am sure VW is not taking whatever comes to their hands from the parts bin, but the way they keep adding features every 3 months, it sure looks like that

It is quite possible that your car had some feature upgrades which were not there in Gannu's car which required the 087 BCM. I think they have been using the 087 BCM for a few years now.

I’m not too sure on any feature updates since both are the “pre-face lift” model. The only difference is the ESP on mine since it’s a TSI

Re: VW Polo DIY: Upgrading the BCM (Body Control Module)

Hi Gannu,

I have skoda fabia 2012 model with manual central lock (no factory fitted remote lock). Later showroom guys installed autocop XS module for remote locking. Everything was working fine till last year, somehow autocop stopped working and i thought instead of going new autocop, i should look for new BCM with remote control and as per your blog i got 6R0937086H (Used one from ebay.ge)
Old BCM model was 6RU937084.
I have removed, faulty autocop module. and followed your instructions to replace BCM, everything working fine except remotes are still not working (tried autocop remote and another aftermarket remote to adapt). I trying adapting it but in vain. Any Idea.

It is just BCM which is enough to get remote control functionality or something else is required.

I don't think autocop remote or aftermarket remote will work with the BCM. You will need Skoda remote. Also, the remote key comes with immobilizer which requires programming of the instrument cluster as well. So, I doubt if you will be able to get OE remote control functionality with just BCM upgrade.

Re: VW Polo DIY: Upgrading the BCM (Body Control Module)

Thank you @graaja for enlightening about aftermarket key-fob. I will try to grab used one and will see if that works.

I don't know the details, but I think you will definitely need VCDS coding to make this work. Also, if the car does not have necessary BCM wiring to control the central locking, then this may not work.

Try to search international forums if someone has already done this hack.

VCDS is not an issue, I do have it and able to recode whole BCM from old to new (6RU937084A to 6R0937086H).

I assume, wiring from BCM to central lock should not be an issue, as central lock is already there and BCM is able to control central lock, i have tested it via VCDS - output test (able to control lock/unlock via VCDS).

It should be just BCM which sends command to central lock and remote give commands to BCM. correct me, i may be wrong :(

Now, if i try to grab another 2nd hand remote what should be configuration, as replaced BCM i got it from Germany (6R0937086H, most probably came out of VW polo car, and what FCC ID and MHz will work.

I just want to give a try with an old Key Fob (again transponder/Immobilizer is not an issue here) just the remote lock/unlock is my concern.

I'm pasting VCDS scan just for ref., if anything knock towards fix.

After long wait period due to lockdown. I received one key fob from AliExpress today and I tried adapting it via VCDS and this works like charm. Thank you once again GRAAJA for giving me hint of getting skoda/VW key fob to work. Cheers !!
