Sorry for this complete off topic, but I couldn't find your ownership thread. I wanted to know how you blackened the front grille? Is it painted or vinyl wrapped? Do you mind sharing the costs too? Looks nice on the Vento.

Hi Thoma,

It was done in two parts, chrome on grill is wrapped in matt black vinyl and was done for approx 150 INR from a local accessory shop. I painted the logo myself using matt black paint. You need to carefully remove chrome part of logo from the base. Here are few pictures

Hi,
You will have to replace existing PDC module with 4k OPS module and connect two wires from PDC module to CAN lines. I have mentioned steps on the first page of this thread

Installing 4K OPS
  1. Install 4 rear parking sensors if not present (Polo CL )
  2. Install head unit supporting OPS if not present (RCD 220/320).
  3. Install/replace OPS capable 4K parking module.
  4. Connect rear parking sensors with OPS module (Black 12 pin connector).
  5. Connect rear warning buzzer with OPS module (Orange 16 pin connector)
  6. Connect CANBUS powertrain High/Low with OPS module (Orange 16 pin connector)
  7. Connect power supply from Fusebox to OPS module (Orange 16 pin connector)
  8. Check settings through VCDS and enable OPS if it’s disabled.
Regards.

Hi. I have a 2015 GT TSI with a stock BCM & stock HU that does not support OPS. I wish to install front parking sensors, but am not interested in the OPS display. I understand that I will need four sensors (with mounting brackets), one 8K module, one buzzer, one PDC switch, and the harnesses.

Can I buy the 4K --> 8K upgrade kit on AliExpress and install it in my car to meet my above requirement? Also, is there such a thing as a non-OPS 8K module?

Hi,

I dont think audio alarm(without OPS display) will be of great utility in 8K parking system since its very difficult to distinguish sound coming from front and rear sensors.

OPS is not dependent on BCM but you will have to upgrade HU. There is no non-ops module since its a OEM part.
If you need basic setup then a simpler solution would be to buy an aftermarket parking kit and install it as a standalone system.
Hope this answered your questions.

Regards.

Thanks for your reply. I watched your video, and it seems pretty easy to differentiate between the front and rear buzzers. Please correct me if I am reaching the wrong conclusion.

So if I do go ahead and install the 8K OPS module with the stock HU, the setup (namely the front buzzer and PDC switch) will work fine right? Will I have to make any changes in the harnesses and/or connections?

PS: I know you suggested it, but I am not very interested in getting an aftermarket solution.

Hi,
There is no direct connection between HU and OPS system. OPS module is connected to CANBUS and HU gets all details from CANBUS. I don't think anyone has tested this option (OPS without display).

If you can get hold of 4K OPS module, maybe test that first before you procure parts for 8K OPS.
Regards.

So for a person having rear sensors from factory, we just have to swap the module and do step 6 and step 7 right?
How did you take the power supply from the fusebox?
A picture of your fusebox would help

Does the 2016 Polo 1.2 support OPS?

Hi,
It is available on Aliexpress (search using keyword CANBUS wiring), however due to current situation it would be better to source locally.
Regards.
