Correction.. this DIY does not need opening up the HU. I think when the cable is not available and getting it sourced from outside would cut you down by around 2k, the DIY cable which costs nothing does make a lot of sense to me.

Beginning,experiment 2..Just picked up a few surgical needles(you know the ones with the hole at the end)which i think would fit reall snug on the ip bus pins.Now where the hell can i get this MX cable in bangy??

binz You dont need surgical needles. SP road will have the female connectors which should be a direct fit into the port.

Also one more thing you can try is to get hold of the pioneer cd changer cable and cut that at one end. Some accessory shop or National market will have local ones for cheap.

Then cut that at one end. On the chopped off end just solder a 3.5mm jack.

No need for MX cables. that 3.5mm jack will go straight into the mp3 player.

MY problem,is that i dont have any time.Prelims start on wednesday you see.During whatever free time i get,im fiddling with one of the cars,trying to make this cable or on the phone.Really really difficult to go to sp road.

But binz my man... Dont do anythin in a hurry...Take your time when you Diy..getting yourself The female jack would be your best bet.....moreover its safe on your system too...

Exactly binz you dont want to end up blowing the HU just cos the ground pin was too close to the signal pin. Thats just an extreme case.

Today i made the cable for connecting my i-pod to Pioneer 4850. I didn't face any problems and the sound was better than my mp3 cd.

Also, how long is the cable? If it's a tad too long maybe you can chop it a little. It will pick up lesser interference but hardly noticable.

Enjoy now get the charger as well so you can charge the player too.

Well, the cable costed me Rs. 0 cause i had some RCA cables from my old home theater lying around. For the connectors i ripped of the audio cable going from the CD-ROM to the motherboard of my old PC . The cable is used for playing audio cd's directly from cdrom ( which no one actually uses ).

Actually even if you buy the stuff, it should cost Rs 100/-

Good RCA cable Rs 80/-
Cd-rom audio cable Rs 20/-

Hey navin....is there any other name for heat shrink???...cause the eletronic comp shops out here have no clue what a Heat shrink is.....Any common name??
