Any suggestions for DIY foot rest?

I have an AT Laura and the foot rest for the left leg is very narrow - extremely uncomfortable to place a foot there. Any suggestions on how I can screw in a plate or something to widen it? Is it safe to just drill a couple of holes in the floor board?

I would suggest not to drill holes there. What you can do is go to a local carpenter and ask him to make the custom size foot which sort of clinges on to the existing foot rest. You can later glue the carpet cloth on it.

you can buy those big footrests that come for trucks, volvo buses...they are broader and i guess can be fitted with minor alterations...

It's very much necessary that you make sure the wider one You're planning to fit should not foul with the brake pedals.
It will be better if this can be done by a good car interior workshop. Or somebody who has done something similar can chip in.

Are you also planning to do some DIY in your car audio also? You'd better!

You can take a Dhoom 6X9 speaker and place it there. I hear it makes a terrific footrest.

Thanks - think there is loads of place from the brake pedal but will be sure to check.

Why did you ask about the stereo? Have you heard it? Not many options without some pretty major rework which I dont think I'll go in for right now.
