Once the grill painting is over this car is going to sing. Great initiative.

i've asked my bro to get 3 colors (black, chrome, red). 1st let me try the black outline with chrome mesh combo and then we can decide.

nah, dont use red paint. I'd suggest you get a thin strip of the red vinyl reflective tape used for number plates etc. If it looks good , you can keep it, else , just peel it away
Try asking for some at a shop where they print vinyl number plates

Update:

Finally, got two cans(black & chrome) of bosny aerosol spray paint from chennai and painted the grill. Right now i have painted it, black(frame) and chrome(mesh).

Sorry for the really crappy final pics(it was 1.15AM when i finished fitting the bumper and the car badly needs a wash). Will post good quality day pics this weekend after a car wash.

Masked the mesh using wonder tape:

Paint used:

First coat applied:

Second coat(applied a third coat to get a smooth look):

Finished mesh grill( sorry, forgot to take pics during the chrome painting):

Nice DIY!!

Personal opinion comment -- I think the mesh is set a bit too far in -- looking at the pics made me wonder how it would look if the mesh was towards the center of the plastic grill frame or even towards the front.

What kind of store would sell the alu mesh? I'm interested in trying, but don't know where to get it in Blore.

Thx!

Mesh towards front will look wierd.

Mesh towards center would look good but not possible through DIY.

Another great DIY job bbs

Though I think the right color combination would make it a killer.

Thanks. Before deciding on chrome grill, i tried a full black combo in photoshop but it looked too bland(the mesh was almost invisible) so i went with this contrasting combo of chrome mesh and black outline.

Chrome paint does not look similar to chrome plating. It looks more like polished aluminum. The bosny chrome spray cost me Rs:270.

Hey great effort there.

A little suggestion though. IMO the mesh grill looks very empty right now. A small discreet badge like the Golf has on it's GTi model offset to a corner would look great. Or maybe even a suzuki logo.
Something like this : http://www.autotrader.co.uk/EDITORIA...gti_grille.jpg

Just a suggestion.

What do you think ?
