Well mine is a 2007 ALTO Lxi (Clear lens headlamps) and it has turn key lock in the boot. Is it anyway possible for me to find out if the lock has the hinge (or I guess it's called a "striker") like the VX?

thanks a lot for the inputs dude. Infact that's what I'm planning to do. I'll take my car for servicing in a week or two and I have the service guys check out the lock mechanism and then I'll see what other parts I'll be needing.

It Can be done

Hi I have a 2004 alto lxi and installed the boot lid opner and oe parcel tray. They both are of the alto vxi and fit easily .
They remove the fuel filler switch and fit it with a combo switch i.e. fuel + Boot opener and will give you the old switch back.I did it at mass and cost me around 500 bucks in 2004.Use it till today and no problems because it is OE.

Thanks a lot for the heads up since I had almost hit a roadblock. The service engineer who caters to me in MASS refused to help me with any "modifications" but he told me that if I replaced the lock then it can be done. I know it's been a while but can you somehow shed some light on what are the parts I need to purchase apart from the combo lever and cable. Did you have to replace the lock with that of the VXI?

Thanks in advance.

Should cost around 400-500 bucks as the guy at MASS told me the same too. But he refused to do it on my car.

Alto Spice??? When did this came?

None of the older regular models of Alto & new ones came with parcel tray, I am not sure of the limited edition ones though.

Yes OE parcel tray

Sorry for the delay in reply , in 2004 I paid 1100 for the oe parcel tray and 500 for the fuel / boot lid remote lever combo. The parcel tray fits exactly and is made out of Abs plastic and does not rattle over the years like other wood trays available.I got it done at sah and samghi mumbai which is mass and had retained the original packing of the tray which was an MGP part.(Maruti Genuine Product).
