Tragic News: Gopinath Munde passes away in road accident

May his soul RIP !

Quote:
Senior BJP leader and union minister for rural development Gopinath Munde died this morning of a heart attack after a road accident in Delhi. He was 64.

At about 6.20 this morning, Mr Munde was on his way to the Delhi airport when an Indica car crashed into the minister's SX4 car at the the Prithviraj Road and Aurobindo Chowk cross-section in the heart of the capital, the police said.

Doctors quoted the minister's personal staff as saying that the vehicle crashed into the car on the side that the minister was seated in the rear seat. Mr Munde, who seemed to have suffered minor injuries, was in shock, his staff members said. He had asked for water, they said.

Mr Munde's driver and personal assistant were in the front and were unhurt. They rushed him to the trauma centre at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

"There was no spontaneous breathing and no cardiac activity when he was brought to the hospital," a doctor said.

Just read that his amby was rammed by an Indica when he was on his way to the delhi airport. Some reports suggest he suffered a cardiac arrest. His security and driver are reportedly safe. Not sure if he sustained any major injuries.

Shocking!

Quote:
Union Minister Gopinath Munde died on Tuesday due to injuries sustained in a car accident at Moti Bagh around 6.30 a.m in Delhi. He was admitted in AIIMS Trauma Center with severe head injuries and passed away around 8 a.m after suffering a cardiac arrest, doctors said.

Though Mr. Munde did not suffer any injuries, he apparently suffered a shock in the impact of accident.

Mr. Munde's funeral will take place at his village in Latur on Wednesday, said Road Transport and Highways Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari. His body will be kept at the BJP headquarters at 12.30pm.

Mr. Munde asked for water from his security guard Nair who was sitting in front of the car and told him to take him to the hospital. Mr. Munde, who was inducted into the Modi Cabinet as Rural Development Minister, also incharge of Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation, was a diabetic, and was sitting in the rear seat when the accident took place.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed shocked over the accident. " I am extremely saddened and shocked by demise of my friend Gopinath Munde", Mr. Modi tweeted.

India Today reports it was a head on collision between his SX4 and an Indica. The driver of Indica is in custody. The mentioned place - Motibagh. This place has Metro construction going on, maybe they didn't spot each other until the very last moment. Assuming he was proceeding towards Airport via RTR under the flyover.

Condolences to the family.

Couple of links with more information:

ZeeNews Link

FirstPost Link

One of the links report he was travelling in an Ambassador while he was rammed by an Indica on Lodi road while enroute to IGI Airport in New Delhi. Another source mentions he was travelling in an SX4. Apparently the car toppled upon impact and Munde sustained serious head and chest injuries.

R.I.P Gopinath Munde

He was a contender for the Maharashtra CM. I hope his sudden accidental death doesn't start any controversies.

Watching live news on TV. His car was indeed SX4 and not ambassador, while going to airport early in the morning around 6am. Preliminary reports suggests that he did not bore any external injuries, but suffered from a cardiac arrest. 06:20am he was brought to the Safdarjung hospital. He was breathless, heart beats had stopped. Doctors tried for one hour to revive his life, but failed and declared dead @ 07:20am.

RIP Mr. Munde and condolences to the family.

It's a big loss to the country and the state of Maharashtra. I was hoping, he would become the next chief minister. He may be the finest chief minister we never had.

What is shocking to me is that such an important person was traveling in an SX4 (no offence to anyone ). People of this rank must travel in much more safer cars (a BMW, may be).

The day begins on a sad note!

RIP Gopinath Munde. He was one of the capable leader with mass following in Maharashtra, its really tragic that the untimely death hasnt allowed him to prove himself.

Made me think, who is safe amongst the menace of those cabbies and reckless drivers?

Re: Tragic News: Gopinath Munde passes away in road accident

R.I.P. to the departed soul.
Apparently his vehicle was rear-ended by a car. Assuming he was in the second row, which means he was likely thrown forward and hit himself on windscreen/dash.
Which is why it is important to wear seat belts all around in the car. Lessens chances of having to hear gruesome news such as this!
My thoughts with the family and friends - but can't help but think that this could have been an avoidable tragedy.

Side impact as mentioned by News X.
The news channel also showed the car (SX4) where both LHS doors had impact marks, but none of the doors had collapsed.

Here's the Indica in question: https://twitter.com/ANI_news/status/...592705/photo/1

Frontal damage. Seems to me what the press is speculating is true - that the Indica rammed into the minister's car sideways.
