The incredibly stupid & dangerous Kiki challenge

Authorities around the world have issued warnings to not attempt the Kiki challenge. The move comes after many people were injured trying to do it.

The challenge involves getting out of a moving car and dancing alongside it to the song 'In my feelings' by Drake. It went viral after a comedian called 'Shiggy' posted a video of himself dancing on Instagram.

Videos uploaded online show people hitting poles, tripping on bad roads or falling out of the vehicles. In one of the videos, a man was hit by a car, while in another one, a woman had her purse stolen.

The police in various countries including India, Malaysia, Spain, UAE and USA have warned the public about the dangers of such stunts. They have also mentioned that those found doing this challenge on public roads would face criminal charges. Drivers in the state of Florida could be fined US$ 1,000 as well.

Through its official Twitter handle, the Mumbai Police has warned that the Kiki challenge not only endangers those attempting it, but also others. It has warned that attempting the challenge is likely to attract strict action.

The Hyderabad Police has released a press note stating that it would be charging people attempting the challenge under Section 268 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 70(b) of the Hyderabad City Police Act, for creating nuisance and endangering life of others on the road.

Blue Whale was a totally different thing. It was evil, and prayed on weak and depressed minds. Lets not even try to lighten that by comparing it with this stupid kiki thing.

Kiki challenge is just the desperation of social media fanatics - including some big name stars. Some likes, some comments - thats all they hope to earn out of it. And if unlucky - some viral stupid video will be born. Or wait - that might not be so unlucky at all - since publicity is all that they seek anyways.

What I like about this challenge is there is video evidence . There will be plenty of contenders for Darwin Award this year.

Re: The incredibly stupid & dangerous Kiki challenge

The world is getting more and more stupid.
First teens were eating Tide pods, then snorting condoms and now this. These are just to name a few.
The National Transport Safety Board (NTSB) in US has also published an advisory.
I mean, do people need to be told that jumping out of a moving car and into traffic is not safe?

Re: The incredibly stupid & dangerous Kiki challenge

Why should Police or the State even come out with such a notice / warning?
If the person want's to execute a stunt - he has the full right to as long as he is not causing direct harm to others, in which case there are already rules to take care of such cases and punish the individual(s) involved.

What is so special here?

Most people are doing it on public roads, since it involves stepping out of a moving vehicle to perform the stunt.

Hope you have checked failed attempt videos on Kiki challenge. Taking your own life is one thing and risking others is different. While we are advised to not hang out of moving vehicles or sunroof's, jumping out of a moving car and dancing on the road is an utterly shameless act.

I am reminded of this quote from Einstein ~
“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.” .

Re: The incredibly stupid & dangerous Kiki challenge

So finally it has come down to this. The authorities have to issue warnings asking people not to be stupid
We're already facing enough challenges driving on our roads with the seat-belt on, 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, VSA, ESP and what-not. Yet we still want to try some moronic act just for attention!
We should be really thankful that our locomotive and flight pilots have displayed common-sense not to try this out

Re: The incredibly stupid & dangerous Kiki challenge

I've been reading about this for a few days now. Seems incredibly stupid and uncalled for. Call me an introvert all you want but atleast I'm not endangering several lives in public by doing dumb crap.

Besides, the song is crap too.

Re: The incredibly stupid & dangerous Kiki challenge

It is not that people do not know it is Stupid or dangerous or illegal. I was reading a report on why people do such stuff.

1. Attention deficit: Despite being in a group of people, many find themselves lost and left out. They get attention that momentarily boosts their ego and then it acts like a drug. You want more of it again and again. You will notice the same people will keep trying such stupid stuff

2. Adrenaline rush: People get a kick out of doing dangerous things. They see Sky diving, jumping in the waterfall videos and get tempted to do the same. So they do what is the easiest to access for them without thinking about the consequences. They get that rush by breaking the rules.

3. People are just plain stupid and believe everything on the net without applying their heads to it. There was a video on youtube that showed if you put a crumpled aluminium foil in the microwave and heat, you will get a polished ball. Many microwave lost their lives.

Re: The incredibly stupid & dangerous Kiki challenge

I actually like such challenges like blue whale, tide pod, kiki etc.

As humans are now immune to natural selection & the theory of survival of the fittest, 'challenges' like these take out idiots from the gene pool, and ensures that people with a minimum level of IQ procreate.
