| ![]() Hey guys, I've been wanting to post this for a while now. Never actually got around hooking up my iPhone to the laptop, so here goes: This was the earliest sighting: 22nd September 8.55PM Bangalore @ Near Deve Gowda Petrol bunk I hadn't the faintest idea what I was looking at in lime green till I got close and checked the logo...Mahindra. A few months down the road, saw this in Global Village parking lot. 6th February 4.03PM Bangalore @ Global Village - rear entrance parking lot The previous one did not bear a license plate...this one days. Completely road legal. I'm not aware of Mahindra having released a small car although it was plenty announced. Speculations? P.S. Sorry bout the poor quality pics. They've been dumbed down to suit the upload regulations of the forum. |

| ![]() Mahindra has launched E2O at a price of 5.96L onroad New Delhi. Mahindra seriously need to evaluate good and attractive lease and finance options to take away a few customers from the hatchback segment. |

| ![]() Some people might buy it for novelty, otherwise it is going to be a dud! Close to Rs 6 lac for a car that runs max 100 km on one charge and takes 5 hours to charge fully is too much. I don't see any utility in it. What is the price of battery? |

In-fact "Mahindra Reva's" vision for this will take some time to turn into reality. They look at using a roof mounted panel to feed the grid rather than charge a battery which can in-turn charge the car. The car can thus be charged whenever required directly from the grid. Understandably this is better as we are eliminating an additional charge/dis-charge cycle and the associated losses! But this is a long shot. Are our grids ready for such small generators being plugged in to them? Not sure. Quote:
We all know that the running costs of the Reva was always lesser than conventional vehicles. The major cost was battery replacement after a few years. The lead-acid battery pack used in the previous generation car used to lose it's retaining capacity over years and replacement cost was at a steep ~ 70K. This would wipe out all the operational cost gains over the years. Mr. Miani mentioned that the Li-ion battery pack used in the new car gives better range and lasts 3 times longer. Hopefully you won't have to replace it for the life of the car. Cost of replacement - not known. Unfortunately, no one asked this all important question at the launch event. I was eagerly waiting for it.

Another question I had (I was watching the web-cast as well) was on the "REVIVE" concept wherein the E2O can be "remotely" charged in case of an emergency. Any idea how could this be accomplished?
