Spotted Mahindra's small car

Hey guys,
I've been wanting to post this for a while now. Never actually got around hooking up my iPhone to the laptop, so here goes:

This was the earliest sighting:
22nd September 8.55PM Bangalore @ Near Deve Gowda Petrol bunk
I hadn't the faintest idea what I was looking at in lime green till I got close and checked the logo...Mahindra.

A few months down the road, saw this in Global Village parking lot.
6th February 4.03PM Bangalore @ Global Village - rear entrance parking lot
The previous one did not bear a license plate...this one days. Completely road legal. I'm not aware of Mahindra having released a small car although it was plenty announced. Speculations?

P.S.
Sorry bout the poor quality pics. They've been dumbed down to suit the upload regulations of the forum.

Vivek, this is the new Reva NXR that is sporting a Mahindra logo now due to the latter's acquisition of the former. The company, now called Mahindra Reva, is expected to launch this car, named e2O, anytime now.

By the way, I was hoping to see spy shots of the actual small car that Mahindra is rumored to be developing.

MODS: Please move this to the Reva NXR thread.

Waiting for the detailed pics of the interiors and TD reports. I should say that from the scoop pics and what I've seen in the Blre-Hosur highway, the dash layout is sexy and definitely feels premium(look wise)

Re: Mahindra Reva E20 Launch Live Webcast Link here!

Mahindra has launched E2O at a price of 5.96L onroad New Delhi.

Mahindra seriously need to evaluate good and attractive lease and finance options to take away a few customers from the hatchback segment.

Weren't there talks of a roof-mounted solar panel for E2O? I could not find any mention of the same on the website. Any inputs?

Re: SCOOP : Detailed Reva NXR pictures. UPDATE: Badged as the "E2O"

Some people might buy it for novelty, otherwise it is going to be a dud!

Close to Rs 6 lac for a car that runs max 100 km on one charge and takes 5 hours to charge fully is too much. I don't see any utility in it. What is the price of battery?

There was no mention of it in the launch webcast.

In-fact "Mahindra Reva's" vision for this will take some time to turn into reality. They look at using a roof mounted panel to feed the grid rather than charge a battery which can in-turn charge the car. The car can thus be charged whenever required directly from the grid.

Understandably this is better as we are eliminating an additional charge/dis-charge cycle and the associated losses! But this is a long shot. Are our grids ready for such small generators being plugged in to them? Not sure.

Probably it will sell just as much as the previous model as it is better equipped with all the gizmos, saftey features, is more spacious and has a better battery and range.

We all know that the running costs of the Reva was always lesser than conventional vehicles. The major cost was battery replacement after a few years. The lead-acid battery pack used in the previous generation car used to lose it's retaining capacity over years and replacement cost was at a steep ~ 70K. This would wipe out all the operational cost gains over the years.

Mr. Miani mentioned that the Li-ion battery pack used in the new car gives better range and lasts 3 times longer. Hopefully you won't have to replace it for the life of the car. Cost of replacement - not known.

Unfortunately, no one asked this all important question at the launch event. I was eagerly waiting for it.

Sorry but I am not sure what is being referred to as the "grid" here?

Another question I had (I was watching the web-cast as well) was on the "REVIVE" concept wherein the E2O can be "remotely" charged in case of an emergency. Any idea how could this be accomplished?
