Tesla / Lotus Battery Magic: 0-60mph in about 4 secs and 135mpg 250mile range

Tesla Motors battery powered car

Very interesting, I say another 10 years you will see sports cars with battery power taking upto 5-10% of the sales and then from there on its going to be downhill for petrol heads :( i think they will have to give it petrol engine type char before a lot of people start to take it as an alternative..

Oh well an excellent effort i must say, seems like it was based on the elise...and it seems to be under 100k..

Very reminiscent of an Elise and a 430 Spider. Nice.

Wow, I like this idea a lot, but one thing, they should keep a good surround sound system hidden behidn the passenger compartment, permanently playing some nice car sounds for the full effect, because I dont think this battery powered thing is going to make any evocative noises by itself!!

Ha! Maybe a selection of fine car noises, ranging from petrol engines, to diesel, to jet-powered noises. That'd be worth the buck or two this car costs.

Fifth Gear feaured the Venturi Fetish in one of their episodes. This is supposed to be the first sports car to go into production that runs on electricity

Lotus Elise Electric car

Costs around £50,000 production to start in 2008
Developed in California with Lotus UK.
Looks sexy, range 250 miles in one full charge, very good performance

It was shown on BBC news yesterday. Looks really nice.

On searching on the net, I got following links which may not be latest though.

An Electric Car With Juice

Sexy Tesla Roadster makes the heart race / All electric, it quietly lives up to its promise

DailyTech - Tesla to License Battery Technology, Launch New All-Electric Sedan
Finally, an electric car with performance

220 cars sold out even before they hit the road.....
The likes of Google creators are on the investors list...

This is quite incredible... the car seems to be too good to be true - $100,000 is not cheap though;

Its a good strategy - the oil lobby won't get freaked out since the average man cannot afford the car.

Well, the Tesla's run into delays according to this news article. I sure hope they iron out all the issues before deliveries start......this is one car that has the potential to pave a different path.
