Re: Tesla accepting reservations for Model 3 from India

I think the India booking price is yet to be up. But here is the list of booking prices.

"Adding several more countries to Model 3 order page tonight. Check for details, but will include India, Brazil, SA, SK, NZ, Sing & Ireland."

urrency Amount
USD $ 1,000
CAD $ 1,000
MXN $ 20,000
EUR € 1 000
DKK kr. 10.000
GBP £ 1,000
NOK kr. 10.000
CHF CHF 1’000
SEK 10.000 kr
AUD $ 1,500
RMB ¥ 8,000
HKD $ 10,000
JPY ¥ 150,000

Its going to cost close to 30L but it should be sell some in India for sure. My only worry is the support structure.

Re: Tesla accepting reservations for Model 3 from India

I don't see how a car is being made available in India without any dealer/service support or presence of the brand whatsoever. This is a car launch not an iPhone launch!
Quite confused on what exactly is going on here?!

I hope its not another April Fool prank !

On another note, IIRC the King of Bhutan drives a Tesla Model S. Any idea how is the supporting infrastructure in Bhutan?

Tesla Model 3, even the base model, would do 0-100 kph in less than 6 seconds, 215 miles on one charge and autopilot as standard! Damm, the traditional car world is screwed!

It gets better - supercharging is also standard!

When you are king, is that ever going to be a worry?

It's irrelevant how a king maintains his Tesla, if there is a common man somewhere using a Tesla without a service/dealer support it would be interesting to see how that is done.

Tesla never had any dealers even in US. They have Tesla run showrooms and service networks. No 3rd parties involved. They do have Tesla approved 3rd party body workshops for accident repairs though.

It wont be too much of a task for Tesla to setup a showroom in some Indian Metro cities based on the bookings. The delivery is 2 years away. So its too early to worry about dealers network.
One thing I am sure is that we wont be getting the SuperCharger network like that in US.

Re: Tesla accepting reservations for Model 3 from India

A few photos and headline features from the livestream

a. Price: $35,000
b. Range: Minimum 215 miles (344 km) EPA rated
c. Seats 5 comfortably (apparently they moved the firewall forward)
d. Minimum performance for all models: 0 - 60 in under 6s
e. Shall come with Tesla Autopilot standard
f. Expected deliveries beginning end of next year (as you'll see in the photos below, the interiors at least seem unfinished)

From the presentation: "The base Model 3 is a very good car".

Booked one for 1000$. I guess they didn't want INR.

re: The Tesla Model 3, a $35,000 sedan. EDIT: Specs revealed & deliveries begin

Some more facts at the Tesla ModeL 3 launch

- Tesla Motors revealed the design of its $35,000-and-up Model 3 during a invitation-only event
- More than 115,000 people made reservations for the Model 3 within the past 24 hours.
-Model 3 would come standard with hardware for Tesla’s Autopilot system and the ability to use Tesla’s network of proprietary Superchargers
- Tesla would offer “much faster” versions of the Model 3.
- Model 3 will face stiff competition from conventional automakers, including General Motors’ Chevrolet Bolt
- U.S. customers the chance to submit a $1,000 refundable deposit at a Tesla store to begin the waiting period
-Tesla plans to start assembling the Model 3 in late 2017 at the Fremont, Calif., factory whereDeliveries would begin in California and move eastward across the United States, then to Europe and to right-hand drive markets it builds the Model S and Model X
-Like the Model S and Model X predecessors, the Model 3 has a slippery design to cheat the wind.

-Built from scratch on a new platform, it will provide the underpinnings for additional models including a small crossover

Observations:

1) Doesn't seem to have any instrument cluster in front of driver.
2) Floating screen which seems to be trend now in high end cars is way too big and looks a little out of place.
3) No visible air conditioning vents.

re: The Tesla Model 3, a $35,000 sedan. EDIT: Specs revealed & deliveries begin

Folks, Tesla is not going to launch the Model 3 in India. They're just not set up for that kind of production yet. They got over 1,15,000 pre-orders in the U.S., and it will take them a few years to fulfil those. Remember, they still have to make the Model X and the Model S alongside this car. And even with the Gigafactory in full swing, they're not going to be able to deliver at least for the next three years. That's just on the manufacturing side.

Now let's talk infrastructure. Any of you really think we'll have charging stations in the country in the next three years?

And for those who booked the car, your money's just going to be refunded.

Car looks simply stunning, especially the dark grey color with those alloys looks drool. Front looks little bit weird without the grill.

As said by others, I do not think we are priority customers for Tesla. And don't you think with ~ 400kms of range is very good practical range for day to day use? We can charge at home and use without any additional infra for it, like some people are using E2O. Can we not charge this vehicle with our domestic electricity supply?

Hope we can get battery technology transferred with some govt/private initiative and come up with cheaper and customized solutions for domestic market.

Even Singapore which is already a developed country is not ready for this car yet in terms of pricing, although we have charging points/stations here.

The RTO Fee (called COE here) is a killer for purchasing cars.

Mahindra e2o is a good car considering the fuel, maintenance and other savings. They just need to learn/import the battery technology that Tesla uses and they could build a similar car at better prices.
