This is actually amazing even with the increasing number of cancellations for the model 3 it is outselling the big dogs of this segment.
Looks like the biggest hit has been taken by the 3 series from a market share of a little over 35% to 15%.

Not surprised since 3 series is also the oldest one of the three.

Elon Musk Confirms $35,000 Base Tesla Model 3 Still 6 Months Away.

Quote:
Musk reiterated that a target rate of production and target cost must be obtained before shipping the minimum cost trim. He noted that Tesla could “lose money & die” if it didn’t follow this process. The CEO explained that Tesla would need three to six months of 5,000-per-week production before being able to bring the $35,000 car to market.

Re: The Tesla Model 3, a $35,000 sedan. EDIT: Specs revealed & deliveries begin

Tesla just revealed that they achieved the Model 3 production rate of 5000 car per week and total production rate (including Model S and Model X) of 7000 cars per week.

https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1013519243030253570

At this rate of 5000 cars per week of Model 3, Tesla will be able to produce more cars in the next 1 year than they did in the last 10 years (2008-2017). This also will be close to Nissan Leaf (most popular EV in the world) sales in the last 8 years combined.

How many other critical tests of other manufacturers do we know of? And do you hear about their test coverage? This kind of "Industry Expert" view (under the lens) on some company internal leak is far fetched. They are stepping up production several fold. There are going to be several redundancies in processes that they are going to eliminate. Treating every leak as a doomsday scenario, or as a revolutionary click-bait is the trend these days.

Well, CNET has this to say about this issue.
https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2...ake-roll-test/

Summary:
For most manufacturers, the brake-and-roll test is used as a time saver to prevent having to physically drive vehicles on a test track, something that requires time, space and personnel. Tesla is currently at a stage in Model 3 production where it feels that it physically needs to have each and every Model 3 that rolls off the line driven on an actual test track to make sure that power, torque, brakes, alignment, and of course squeaks and rattles are within spec. This makes the brake-and-roll test redundant, and a company in the midst of a production ramp like Tesla's can't afford redundancies.

Business Insider is hand in glove with Tesla Leaker's aka disgruntled employees. These news organizations influence the stock market and Tesla shares being a high priced one, have a lot of Short sellers who are set to loose billions if Tesla share prices go up.

Analysts who come on air to say to sell Tesla shares, (on the day Tesla announces that they have produced over 5000 models 3 a week) inside they are tied to some big wall street firms.

Lot of companies from rival car companies to oil companies to short sellers are set to gain if Tesla falls.

US media is at an all time low in terms of credibility, bias, corporate interests.

Ramping up a electric car productions like Tesla which has thousands of batteries cells to made for each and every car is a big challenge.

Re: The Tesla Model 3, a $35,000 sedan. EDIT: Specs revealed & deliveries begin

Tesla Model 3 orders may be open to everyone in North America, but the base $35,000 model is still elusive.

Quote:
still not ready to sell the $35,000 base model it promised us a long time ago. According to current data on their website, people wanting to order a Model 3 with a standard battery are faced with a 6-9 month wait time.
Quote:
For anyone that wants to order a Model 3 with a reasonable wait time, you must choose the aforementioned long-range battery and premium interior, pushing the minimum price up to $49,000 – before tax breaks. Everything else regarding its configuration is up to you: a choice between a rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, Performance version, Autopilot, color, wheels and other items.

Re: The Tesla Model 3, a $35,000 sedan. EDIT: Specs revealed & deliveries begin

First test drive of Tesla Model 3 Performance variant by Wall Street Journal:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/first-e...vel-1532022533

The above link under Paywall. Below reddit page has the entire report:
https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors...tesla_model_3/

Some of the highlights from the report:
  • I’m no financial analyst, but I do know cars. If you were hoping Tesla would fail on account of the Model 3 I’ve got bad news: This thing is magnificent, a little rainbow-farting space ship, so obviously representative of the next step in the history of autos.
  • ‘It’s magnificent, a spaceship, so obviously representative of the next step in the history of automobiles.’ The Model 3 is more than futuristic. It’s optimistic. This is what ordinary cars should be, which is to say, better than they are.

Re: The Tesla Model 3, a $35,000 sedan. EDIT: Specs revealed & deliveries begin

TESLA'S stock downgraded as it face challenges.

24% of Tesla Model 3 orders have been canceled as customers are growing too impatient to wait any longer for them, and the fact that Tesla has not yet made the $35,000 base model of the car available for purchase yet.

Their spokesperson says that the bookings (including cancellations) stands at 420,000 units. If the 24% number is correct, then that means that close to 310,000 units are still in play. Also, that wait times are much lower than the analyst reported.

I am no fan of Tesla, but thought I'd chip in with the other side's claim.
