But at the same time what will differentiate an EV powertrain? I can think of range and time to charge. Here Tesla is, I think ahead of everybody else. Plus they are creating a ecosystem around customer experiences - Tesla+ solar city + gigafactory. Really really excited to see how the EV space shapes up.

| ![]() The production version of the i-Pace was introduced by Jaguar earlier this evening, UK time. I guess it's not a surprise to see how close it remains to the original concept. https://www.jaguar.co.uk/jaguar-range/i-pace/index.html |

| ![]() Brilliant effort from Jaguar; Ian Callum's magic has really worked on this. Read that the reserve range is computed real-time based on the climate conditions, landscape, driving style, traffic conditions, and even no. of occupants! |

| ![]() If you enjoy how-to videos, this is worth your while: The video covers everything from the exterior design, to aerodynamics, to ride and handling. Of course, this being a manufacturer's own video, the usual caveats apply. |

| ![]() Came across this video wherein the I-Pace takes on the Model X: In the video they take the Model X 75D and 100D and not the faster P100D even when the racer asks to take the P100D. Still finally we have a car that can take on and beat tesla, also the P100D is almost double the cost of the Jaguar, so if to pick, I'll take the I-Pace home. This video makes me think that slowly every company will come out with vehicles like this and what will be Tesla's selling USP then? |

The company gave away their patents for free, I am sure they have it all worked out. https://techcrunch.com/2016/05/26/te...nd-for-itself/ Once Jaguar or any other maker can commit to making electric car at scale these companies do with traditional models with a starting price of $35000 and almost the same performance and more advanced software, I will take them seriously. That said, this is a gorgeous looking car but I wont say this competes with Model X simply because Model X does more. This one doesnt even do the celebration mode ![]() Last edited by extreme_torque : 8th March 2018 at 03:38.

![]() And with many of the European manufacturers ditching development with diesel vehicles, they can concentrate on pure electric. The I-Pace looks brilliant inside out and it is the star of the show. The all electric new-generation XJ will be Jaguar's next. Kudos to Elon Musk for accelerating the all electric revolution. And VW too for killing the diesels.

| ![]() In a video created and published by Jaguar, a parameter selected by Jaguar, with drivers selected by Jaguar, the Jaguar comes out victorious. How very surprising. Mods: I request an "eye roll" emoticon. |

| ![]() What a turnaround for JLR in last ten years, from an almost bankrupt British company which was being sold from Big Eagle to the land of snake charmers. Now, it's front runner in challenging the technology leader in EV space. Interesting read on it - https://www.forbes.com/sites/joannmu.../#27141c8e13c2 |

| ![]() Hmm, looks good on the outside. But conventional-ish interiors, not so great range, and built by a company that does not provide class leading anything at the end of the day. I wouldn't have one. Unless someone in the electric vehicle world does something as radical as Tesla has done, I'm gonna put my money down on the Tesla Model X no matter what. Yes, even if it does cost 150,000 pounds. Why? Because it can do this ![]() ![]() |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() What we are seeing is a possible gap filler. Tesla has, no doubt, taken a leap forward and paved the way for mainstream EV's but then, it's lack of scalability and limited product range is leaving behind other segments to be filled in by competitors. If one was looking for a compact SUV, then the model X is not the product which is where the I Pace already fits in. Similarly, the Chevy Bolt is actually selling at promised price point which is lesser than the price point sold by Tesla for the Model 3- It has barely sold any with the well advertised $35k figure. There are many segments in between that can be easily filled in by competitors before Tesla can actually catch up. But then, while we are looking here, Elon Musk could very well be laughing his way to the banks with the Trucks while the car industry is busy claiming that they've beat Tesla. Interesting times we live in. |
