Skoda's EV Plans -

Electrification ŠKODA model range will be launched already in 2019 stating the Skoda Superb model with plug-in-hybrid vehicle. Shortly thereafter, in 2020, will follow a purely electrically powered production car ŠKODA. By 2025, then the brand will expand its range of five purely electrically powered cars from different segments.

The EV will arrive in 2020 and be based on VW Group's new MEB platform; it'll be previewed in Shanghai and could be called the Aratan.

At 4.64m long and 1.92m wide, the Vision E is a little shorter and wider than Skoda’s new Kodiaq SUV and features a four-seat interior. The production car is likely to feature five seats.

The Vision E and its production version will use a newly developed lithium ion battery pack, packaged into the floorpan. Skoda won’t yet divulge its storage capacity.

Two motors, one on each axle, together capable of delivering 300bhp, mean the Vision E is all-wheel drive, although other configurations are possible on the MEB architecture.

The driver sits "around 25% higher" than in Skoda’s best-selling Octavia.

Have to admit that VW group have been very late to the E/H party.
They have been caught napping.

Tesla has taken leaps and bounds in the electric cars space & associated infrastructure and because of that, it complete dominates American markets for EVs.

Toyota has a massive advantage in the hybrid space. It uses hybrids in so many models starting from corolla, auris, prius to Fuel cell Mirai.

Their neighbors BMW have also found success with the i3.

The first pictures of the Skoda Vision E Concept have surfaced ahead of its official debut at the Shanghai Motor Show later this week.

A closer inspection reveals a sculpted hood, a panoramic glass roof, and stylish LED lighting units.
Power is provided by a lithium-ion battery pack and an electric powertrain that develops a combined output of 301 hp (305 PS / 225 kW). This will enable the crossover to hit a top speed of 111 mph (180 km/h) and travel up to 310 miles (500 km) on a single charge

Skoda Vision E - official information

Skoda's Vision E concept -500 km range and autonomous driving level 3. To arrive beyond 2020.

The vision E drives alone in the traffic jam or on the highway , can keep the track and avoid obstacles, go overtime and find a free parking space, in parks and parks.

500 kms of pure electric range is serious. The next decade could see the coming of age of the electric/plug-in/hydrogen cars. I wait with delight. When we moved into our current apartment complex I had two 15amp plug points installed at my parking spots while the building was still being readied. The builder was confused when It old him it was for future electric cars - it was in 2009. One day soon I hope to use them.

What if we transfer similar technology to auto rickshaw, limit the top speed and acceleration profile for safety reasons. 500 to 600 Kms on a single charge, less pollution and faster way to go around in congested cities.

We need Tesla-auto rickshaw for congested Indian metros .
