Audi will celebrate a historic world premiere in California on September 18, 2018: the brand will be presenting the Audi e-tron – its first all-electric-drive production model – during its “The Charge” event. Audi will also be presenting its mobility initiative in the United States.

They claim one in 3 I will be quite happy with 1 in 5 or even 7 at the outset. One thing not being talked about much is the durability of the power train, esp the batteries.

I want to see what is there beneath that huge bonnet. Any photos showing the same ? Guess Audi, Jag and Merc are going mostly SUV way for electrics. VW should handle the small cars space I guess.
Will the structure beneath handle our humps and make sure batteries are not damaged ?

It has 60 L of storage capacity. Battery cables, etc can be stored if needed.

IMO, though this space won't serve much purpose in absence of Front IC engines, this definitely aids in traditional car shape and safety buffer/crumple zone in head-on collisions.

With traditional car makers coming up with electric vehicles, it would be hard for Tesla to maintain the advantage it once had.

Audi goes bold with electrification - Audi e-tron Sports back, Audi e-tron GT on its way!

Audi plans its Platforms:

1.Audi’s modified platform for first BEVs: for Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback - 2019

2.Second e-platform: for Audi e-tron GT concept - which will target Tesla Model S territory - debut at the LA Auto show late 2018.

Audi will present the first member of another e-platform by the end of 2018. The technology in this automobile was developed in collaboration with Porsche; the design and character of the e-tron GT concept are packed full of unmistakable Audi DNA.

3.Premium Platform Electric (PPE) developed by Audi and Porsche: multiple models in high-volume B through D segments

Another joint project of the development departments at Audi and Porsche is the Premium Platform Electric (PPE). It will be the basis for multiple Audi model families with all-electric drive covering the high-volume B through D segments of the market.
Both SUVs and classic body concepts are planned here.


4.Volkswagen modular electrification platform (MEB): for high-volume A segment

Several Volkswagen Group brands are collaborating on the development of the modular electrification platform (MEB), which serves as the basis for a series of Audi e-models, particularly in the high-volume A segment.
