It was initially slow due to initial launch in CA, but now its ramping up across the country. I have seen the Model 3 up against the Bolt, sure the Model 3 has the looks, but I see more potential with the Bolt and also its more compact and squatter than the Model 3.

Production in Fremont is ramping up, they finally moved out of hand work and now more into automated processes.

Great development. How is the maintenance going to be managed. As the technology is totally different the power plant is an unknown ,quantity for our grease monkeys

Re: 1st Tesla arrives in India - The Model X

There is a tweet by Harsh Goenka who is the chairman of the RPG Group. (Ceat Tyres, Infrastructure, Technology). Owing to the stature of Harsh Goenka there can be some credibility to his public social media posts. As per Harsh Goenka the Model X belongs to the Ruias in Bombay. Ravi and Shashi Ruia have a far higher net worth owing to their ownership of the Essar group.

Now these are only tweets by an individual and they can’t be verified if it is indeed true. There are many discreet high net worth Individuals in the Island city who can easily afford to import a car costing roughly about 150 thousand US dollars and pay more than 150% on custom duties and other taxes to drive it on Indian roads.

It hurts to see the car going into all the undulations - some of which are pretty sharp edged!
Hoping it doesn't crop up with any reliability issues given the lack of support in India.

As I said earlier, the car belongs to a business house that runs petrol pumps as well. It indeed belongs to the Essar Family. Prashant Ruia even mentioned in an interview a few months back that he can't wait for his Tesla to arrive.

There is a picture of him driving it in today's Bangalore Mirror. Ironic that a Tesla reached Sri Lanka a couple of years before India!

Re: 1st Tesla arrives in India - The Model X

Not sure if I missed reading the critical part - I believe this business tycoon also has an electric charge station built inside his mansion to recharge the juice of this marvel?

Damn this model has 967nm of torque combined by 2 electric motors

Btw, if you were wondering how 967nm looks like against Lamb, here you go;

It would be interesting to see the autopilot screen on Indian roads. No lane markings, autorickshaws and random people crossing the road will give the software nightmares.
In the video you could see the car beat everybody at the traffic signal (0:48) where it just took off.

Re: 1st Tesla arrives in India - The Model X

Ritiesh Deshmukh seems to have been gifted a Tesla X according to TOI. But from the pic its clear that it is not in India and also it is a left hand drive. So maybe it was just a drive on his birthday.

So while Tesla must be appreciated for leading the effort, those who drive for the pleasure of driving should look elsewhere. .
Here's an awesome video answering some of the questions we enthusiasts, and practical motorists have.
