Sir Team BHP gives us the opportunity to express our views even if negative and acerbic. But it would be a lot more helpful if you illustrate your dismissal with facts and data.

I see atleast one of these Wagon R EVs on a daily basis in Gurgaon.

Looks decent from the front but if I must comment about the derriere, then I would say that these look like refrigerators-on-wheels.

This dismissal is based on information from Suzuki birdies. Although I don't know the exact figures, it seems Suzuki guys are not happy with real world usage results. Probably it is not "Kitna deti hain" champion.

Thank you. As you are based in Japan it would immensely help readers if you can share more information.

Maruti Suzuki is on track with its EV plans.

The Wagon R EV will support DC fast charging in addition to AC charging.

Quote:
The Wagon R EV’s on test sport two charging inputs – the one at the front is for AC charging while the one at the rear is for DC charging
Quote:
Charging time for the Wagon R EV will be around seven hours with standard AC charging. DC fast charging will allow an 80 percent charge under an hour

Though the official certified range is expected to be much higher, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R EV likely to have 130km real-world range.

Quote:
All-electric Wagon R promises to go farther than existing Indian EVs but will be pitched as a city vehicle only.
The figure, will be achievable in regular Indian city driving conditions and at typical average speeds. However, as with all EVs, the range will be inversely proportional to speed. A consistent higher speed will bring range down to 100km

Maruti WagonR Electric, Solio Hybrid showcased – 2019 Future Mobility Show.

Quote:
Though both cars are imported from Japan as CBU, both of them are regularly spotted being tested on Indian roads. Maruti is testing a range of electric and hybrid cars on Indian roads so as to collect data, that will help them a made for India electric car. Maruti Suzuki’s first electric car will be WagonR electric, which is expected to be launched in 2020.

Affordable pure EV technology is still far away as things stand today. Even after the tie up with Toyota, if 100 kms is all they could manage in real world figures, they better not launch that contraption here. That's like giving you a WagonR with a 7 litre fuel tank.

Thanks to Ankur Jain for sending this information in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

Updates from sources working at Maruti:

- There are 30 to 40 similar cars in Maruti's campus. All unmasked.

- These are only to test the Electric car technology and there is a high probability that the same model may NOT be launched as an electric car. Hence answers why these cars are unmasked.

- Technology tested will be ported into existing models & future range of cars.

- They have received feedback from people that the car looks good and should be launched in India.

Saw one near Cyber City this morning.
Honestly, wasn't visually appealing at all.

I guess there was an official press release for this. Maruti has deployed 50 such cars all over India. There are a few in Mumbai too, mostly parked near Goregaon area.

Had a chance to look at one quite closely, most of the interior bits are shared with Swift and Ignis including the seats. Key point to note here is the massive legroom for the second row. If you remember the space on offer on the Indigo XL, this one has legspace almost as good as that.

Maruti Suzuki's top management view:

A Rs 5-lakh petrol car may become ₹ 9-lakh in the electric version .. and could go up to ₹ 12 lakhs, considering the present regulatory regime and incentives.

These were clicked by my cousin, Dr Abhishek near his workplace. He said that it was a fairly small car with a cramped back seat.

Disagree to the fact that it is a small car is a cramped back seat. I personally saw the vehicle, its way more roomier than any other hatchback on sale in India, esp the rear seat.
