Renault Kwid electric concept, the K-ZE

Seems to be based on KWID platform or a variant of it.

Source

Quote:
Renault has debuted the K-ZE all-electric crossover at the Paris Motor Show 2018.

The carmaker claims that the vehicle will be an affordable compact SUV which will go on sale in 2019.

Renault already produces electric cars with the popular and successful ZOE being at the forefront on which.

Today, the firm has announced that the next urban electric car will launch in 2019, initially in China before entering other markets.
Quote:
The vehicle will gain around 155-miles of claimed range on a single charge but Renault used the NEDC cycle opposed to the new WLTP.

What this means is that real-world range will be closer to 119 miles than the claimed 155.
Quote:
The design may be decisive but it borrows elements from the attractive Captur which bolsters its appeal.

It has opted for an interesting take on the faux-grille, making it into a centerpiece design feature rather than just blocking it off or removing it completely.

At the rear of the car, it is pretty familiar in terms of classic Renault SUV design.
Quote:
It will be manufactured locally by e-GT New Energy Automotive Co, the Joint Venture with Dongfeng Motor Group and Nissan created to develop and produce competitive electric vehicles for the Chinese market.

Re: Renault Kwid electric concept, the K-ZE

This article claims that the car was designed in India!

Quote:
Renault’s first affordable electric vehicle, designed out of its technical centre in India, will hit China’s roads in the next one year, top executives at the French carmaker said. India will have to wait longer for the Kwid EV, as the company awaits clarity from the government on the country’s electric vehicle policy.
Wish MNC car makers realise that they need to lead - rather than follow - if they want market share. Renault should know this all too well; the Duster was a runaway hit due to its first-mover advantage.

Re: Renault Kwid electric concept, the K-ZE

With Maruti looking to introduce electric vehicles in 2020, other manufacturers should not waste any time bringing their products into the market.

The Kwid is Renault's best-selling car in India. The electrified version will be the company's best bet when it comes to achieving any sort of success. Better hurry up now strike while large players like Maruti and Hyundai are still readying their vehicles.

Just last month Maruti announced that it had commenced testing of EVs. It is crucial for Renault to introduce its vehicle earlier. It may not stand a chance if it delays.

Re: Renault Kwid electric concept, the K-ZE

The conceptual version K-Ze was presented in October and have already spotted the model in tests there .

Renault said that it has an estimated autonomy of 250 km.

The EV variant of the subcompact still serves to advance elements of the restyling of the Kwid, planned for India in 2020.

Quote:
The heavy camouflage of the electric Renault Kwid hides much of the elements. It seems to have softened the futuristic design, getting closer to the model we already know. The headlights seem to be different, just like the bumper. The front does not have exactly one grille, since it does not need air to help refrigerate the engine, so it has become a closed element. The rear shows no changes

Renault Kwid Electric Variant With 250 Km Range Could Launch In India Before 2022
The production Renault Kwid electric variant will retain majority of the design cues from K-ZE concept with an appreciable 250 km range
The 2018 Paris Motor Show saw Renault unveiling the promising K-ZE concept and it was a bit of a surprise. The close-to-production model did give a preview of how an all-electric Kwid hatchback will look like and is claimed to have a range of 250 km on a single charge in the NEDC cycle.

Re: Renault Kwid electric concept, the K-ZE

The Renault Kwid Electric is planned for release in China this year.

In the patent images of Concept K-ZE brings the most interesting. Inside, instead of the traditional gearshift lever, there is a rotating selector.
Quote:
Information indicates that the autonomy of the electric Kwid will be about 250 km, reinforcing its urban proposal. Production in China will take place in partnership with Dongfeng and, if the public's acceptance is positive, is also sold in countries like India and Brazil, which should happen in 2021 if Renault does not change its plans

Re: Renault Kwid electric concept, the K-ZE

Renault has showcased the production version of the Kwid EV at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show. The EV is based on the same CMF-A platform as the Kwid, albeit with a few modifications to accommodate batteries and an electric motor.

Re: Renault Kwid electric concept, the K-ZE

Really interesting! 6.2L for 271km range is pretty good. Top speed of 105kmph. If Renault can bring this car to India with price less than 7L then it will be game changer. This will force infrastructure changes starting from home to public places.

Good news to see. Waiting for the launch in India. I feel it will be successful only if it is launched below 5 lakh in India.

Providing a lease type of option for buying may attract more buyers.

Re: Renault Kwid electric concept, the K-ZE

This is a very reasonable price. I am game if it becomes available at INR 8 Lac on road in India.

The range is reasonable charging time is also good.

The World's Most Important Car Is Launching Now, And It's Not A Porsche Or Tesla
The electric version of Renault's low-cost Kwid is exactly the kind of car needed to drive global EV adoption, and it couldn't be more different from a Tesla.

Re: Renault Kwid electric concept, the K-ZE

271 km range is based on NEDC system which is way over optimistic. The real world range will be close to 190 Kms (270 * 0.7). 190 kms will be still a decent range and much better than Tigor and Verito EVs.

Re: Renault Kwid electric concept, the K-ZE

The specs look pretty impressive. Assuming even 180 km of real-world range can make such a car the one to set the ball rolling for EVs in India. Remember, even when Tesla establishes itself, it is not going to transform the Indian market because they don't make small cars.
