Default Volkswagen plans a new Electric CUV

In 2020, we will have vehicles that can do everything that Tesla can, yet cost half as much says VW's Chief -Herbert Diess.

VW aims to sell one million MEB cars by 2025 and a new T-Cross-sized EV is part of that plan.

Quote:
A small, T-Cross-sized all-electric SUV is being considered, and it could go on sale with a price tag of less than 20,000 early next decade
Quote:
With a footprint similar to that of the brand’s newest and smallest SUV, the I.D. mini crossover would be a little over four metres in length. However, the battery-electric powertrain and packaging made possible by the MEB platform under the skin mean that interior space could surpass that of the larger T-Roc.
Quote:
Across the entire group, 27 pure-electric vehicles on MEB are planned for reveal by 2022.

Classy & proportionate . Just like their mass market cars, I sure hope that VW is able to inject some fun-to-drive element in their EVs. I'd expect it more from them than Toyota or Hyundai.

I've been saying this since 2 - 3 years. Once the big boys arrive on the EV scene, Tesla has lost its first-mover advantage completely. If I owned Tesla stock, I'd sell.

Volkswagen's sub-18,000 electric car confirmed, will be "the size of a T-Roc" and arrive before 2024.

Quote:
The architect of Volkswagen’s electric car strategy, recently claimed engineers are working on a car conceived to be priced at half that of the Tesla Model 3 without naming the secret new electric-powered crossover
Quote:
The compact five-seater will have a raised ride height and exterior dimensions similar to the existing combustion-engined T-Roc

VW has bet V-E-R-Y big on electrics, being the only large manufacturer to have bet everything on their future EV strategy, that is opined as a do-or-die approach.

Volkswagen’s sub-18,000 EV to spawn family of models.

Electric ‘people’s car’ will be followed by related small machines from other Volkswagen Group brands.
The Group detailed plans for an ‘MEB entry family’ among the initial wave of electric vehicles planned to be introduced under the sub-brand before the end of 2025.

Quote:
The MEB platform would spawn “small city cars” as part of its expanded electrification plan.

Quote:
The company is aiming to build the cheapest in a range of new ID vehicles and confirmed it was planned to be built in Germany. The company expects each model to be constructed in less than 10 hours.
Quote:
The new entry-level model would go on sale in 2023 with a number of different battery options, the smallest of which would provide a range of around 124 miles.
Quote:
MEB entry family suggests that fellow Volkswagen Group brands Seat and Skoda are likely to offer their own takes on the new model

The small sports utility, which must measure around 4 meters, will have hybrid and electrical variants. It is not known the details of these settings, but we can bet on a microhybrid system of 48 volts and the MQB-A0 with lithium batteries.

The pre-production SUV is shown here in a smoked display case, wearing heavy camouflage. The finished product will arrive in UK showrooms by summer 2021, roughly 12 months after the firm’s new ID.3 hatchback goes on sale.

The German brand is yet to officially announce the ID.4’s performance specifications.

VW ID.4 GTX High-Performance EV Spied For The First Time.

Quote:
the standard ID.4 will be offered with either a single-motor or dual-motor setup, giving the EV either rear- or all-wheel-drive. Given the performance nature of this model and the X in GTX likely denoting all-wheel-drive, it’s almost guaranteed the GTX will turn all four wheels.

TSLA stock gave 400% returns in one year. Makes it a more compelling sell now than ever?
