  • Wider and longer than the standard Duster
  • Battery pack is visible on the sides
  • Studded tyres

A test vehicle for an electric version of the Renault/Dacia Duster was spotted testing in Sweden. It’s one of the first glimpses of a budget SUV test car from the Dacia/Renault family and it signals the direction the company is taking in the future.

Quote:
On the face of it, there are some very obvious cues like the battery pack, wider body and bigger wheels to indicate where Renault/Dacia is going. However, our spy sources have given us an interesting perspective with regard to this car. They say that this is the prototype for a new 4WD electric race car that the company is working on with regard to the famous French ice racing series- Andros Trophy.

For what it is worth, the EV tech being tested on this car will move to a production-spec model shortly after the race car is revealed to the public. With the future going electric, some of this technology is sure to be introduced in the India-spec Renault models of the future.

Re: Scoop: Renault Duster EV spied testing

I think the Duster body is just a top hat to mislead! The car being tested underneath might be something else totally.

This is the older generation Duster and testing the EV platform on an outdated car doesn't make sense. Plus, the makeshift extension visible in the middle clearly shows that the wheelbase of this car is much more than a standard Duster.

Most definitely. Plus, Renault knows best that the right way to develop an EV is a new car from the ground up...and certainly not a 20-year old platform.
