The Grille may be a camouflage. They used the normal production line for the chassis. When the true EV comes then the grille will be changed to a panel.

Tata have been supplying Electric Buses so have been in the business of EVs.

Tata Motors electric mobility president just confirmed that Nexon EV will be the first car to use recently unveiled Ziptron technology. Nexon EV will be launched in Q4 FY2020 (Jan-March 2020). Tata also launched website for EVs.

There are two camouflaged test mules out there so one must be EV and the other one is facelift. If the EV launch is just before the facelift launch (which is anticipated post BSVI) EV doesn't get outer shell and other cosmetic changes of the facelift version

Anyways, that's a pretty decent range for Nexon EV and Tata seems to be hitting right spots on Nexon. Interesting times ahead.

Isn't it rare to see companies revealing expected pricing information much before the release of the vehicle? MG motors expected to release ZS EV by year end for around Rs 20 lakhs. I think Tata is tempting potential EV customers to wait few more months with price reveal.

Anyway, this is really exciting for the Indian market. From virtually no proper EV to 3 decent vehicles in span of just one year. Tata Altroz EV and Mahindra XUV300 also expected to be released later in 2020. Tata also announced recently to setup 300 public fast charging stations in 5 major cities across the country.

This is great news indeed! EV market has been jump started by Kona and now others are jumping in. I was waiting for Nexon Hybrid to be announced, as it was reported that Tata was working on them sometime last year, surprised to hear full blown EV is about to be launched.
On the official website, I can see Milind and his wife (?) standing in front of a Nexon EV, and presumably on More plains. Looks like they completed that leg of journey already. Manali to Leh is around ~480km, how did that work out on an EV with 300km range?

As mentioned by Tata Motors, the trip is meant to show, Nexon EV (and EVs in general) can traverse through tough terrains, high altitude passes with steep gradients and unpaved roads. This does not meant to show that Nexon has enough range to travel 480 KMs. As Tata Motors mentioned in their EV specific website, Nexon can be charged through any 15A 220V regular socket as well.

I have a question on the published range. Is the 300 km range ARAI tested? We must remember that they certified Kona for a 450+ km range which in real world would travel around 300 kms. We can imply that Nexon EV will travel around 200 kms on a single charge in real world conditions. I am not saying this is bad but setting expectations right is necessary.

Tata has wisely chosen a route which will not require AirCon (may be heating mode is provided by the battery cooling circuit) and the terrain should (not sure) provide ample opportunity for regenerative braking. Also this will boost confidence in public to a huge extent.
