re: Tata builds a Nexon EV. EDIT: Launched at ₹13.99 lakhs

One more thing which reduces the City vs Highway mileage 'difference' in EVs is in city there is no equivalent of fuel consumption in EVs where ICE will consume fuel with the engine idling in Traffic signals and stuck standstill in B2B traffic for minutes together assuming auxiliary consumption like AC/Heater/Other electricals being same in both.

Based on the discussions I get a feeling that the EVs might get a slightly more range in Highways when driven at optimum speed but the city range might not be far behind as compared to the ICE. Clearer picture will emerge once more data is available in the coming months from real world usage in our road conditions.

Fully agree. If all goes well, I would soon get my hands on the Nexon, and would do all sorts of experiments and post here.

My booking happens to be the first one in Mumbai

Tata Motors definitely seem to be more proactive with this launch

Will share the detailed experience soon

Looking forward to hearing your experience.

I have pre-booked MG ZS EV last week. I am still waiting for test drive. Currently am also bit confused between Nexon EV and MG ZS EV. I hope MG gets the pricing right or it might be deal breaker.

I considered it as well but it fell short in these aspects

-Higher price to range ratio
-Firmer ride quality
-Lesser warranty
-Lower GC
-Lesser rear space
-Looks (Subjective)

I haven’t driven it yet but I went to the showroom to see it. Interior quality seems to be a lot better than Nexon.

One of my friend works at MG and he told me that the suitability of the MG for Indian conditions won’t be to the level of the Tata. They have had niggles in the handling and suspension bottoming out during testing.

That said, it will have more features and slightly higher range.

I am taking test drive of MG ZS in Jogeshwari showroom this weekend. (or Tomorrow if i find time) I am more inclined towards MG due to panoramic sunroof, taller car, and more power/range. Warranty seems same for both (8 years) But yes, I agree with you that Tata has come up with very aggressive pricing and a very good looking car too.

Did you already take the test drive of Tata? MG guys are planning to come to home to do feasibility of installing Fast charging station in society. Am assuming tata is also doing something similar.

Something else to keep an eye on is vampire drain. My EV loses 2 or 3 miles every day. If you leave the EV parked in the sun for a month, you can expect a lot of drain. Especially in connected cars that also have battery temperature maintained all the time.

I visited kropex motors yesterday and was told that the test drives will start on January 19th. They said that, there are three colors and three versions of Nexon EV. She was asking me to pay 22k for pre launch booking. How much did you pay? Also, is there any advantage of pre launch booking?

Re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, the Altroz

Just watch the Nexon ev adverts on Youtube. Its cringe worthy. I watched all of it and a guy in an annoying accent keeps saying I am Nexon Electric every 2 mins after yapping something about the car you barely pay attention to.

They really need a new marketing team. Right from the people who decide the names of products to the people selling cars in showrooms. This hiring Nora and Instagram models isn't going to make anyone notice the car.

Do an online booking for 21K. I did the same.
Tata is planning to deliver first 50 Nexon EVs by end of January. A pre-booking will help you be among the first to get their cars.

Tata has also mentioned introductory pricing for the first few bookings

I booked mine with the dealer as the online bookings had not started by then

Hoping for the best

Hi, any idea what are the added benefits? I am thinking of booking it this week. How sure are we about the 19th January launch date?

Yes, I too just got a call from Tata Motors. Very tempted to pre-book Nexon. I have already pre-booked MG ZS.

How easy it is to get refund back if i don't go ahead eventually after test drive?
