re: Tata builds a Nexon EV. EDIT: Launched at ₹13.99 lakhs

Great initiative by Tata Motors, but price isn't the only factor

This kind of range will not suffice for any trip outside the city

The Kona delivers around ~250 kms on a single charge realistically

The math shows that Nexon will have close to ~180 kms range

Charging infrastructure limitations can only be overcome by higher range

Would have loved to have the option for a bigger battery pack

That said, they need to learn a thing or two from KIA regarding the option of giving more features albeit at a higher price

Difficult to make this my primary car!

Well, Thats a poor man's Evoque. It looks so much more premium with out the weird indicators.

This is an important launch. A mass market EV with real credentials. Price it along with Creta and it is game on. Similar to what Indica did when there was no cheap diesel small car in the early 2000s.

Looks brilliant, hope the 300KM range mentioned holds it's water in real world conditions.
Good set of variants as well. Hope it is priced between 15-17L.

The website for the car is up. Has lots of details and UI looks good. But not many pics of the car itself. https://nexonev.tatamotors.com

My opinion - The car looks amazing! I love the way those headlights look.

This car was supposed to be based on the upcoming facelift of Nexon ICE car, isn't it? If so, then would it be safe to assume that the facelift also would come with only 2 airbags? Or am I missing something here?

A bit off topic on this thread but i don't expect Tata to ever come up with a 6-airbag variant of Nexon. They have already achieved a 5-star safety rating with just 2-airbags, which is a big marketing speak. I don't think there is any business case for them to get 6-airbags.

300kms range would've been acceptable if it is a real world range. But it is internal testing range. If real world range is 200-250kms...it will be confined to city usage IMO.
I feel it should be priced below 15lakhs OTR if it has to make good sales. Booking open from tomorrow, 20.December.2019

I blame NCAP here. They provide separate rating for driver and child occupants. So manufacturers get 5 star for the driver and claim the car to be 5 star rated, which is misleading. Nexon scores only 3 star for the rear passengers.

re: Tata builds a Nexon EV. EDIT: Launched at ₹13.99 lakhs

With the pricing, the Nexon EV seems like a really good proposition honestly. It may not compete in size but it definitely has the performance numbers to match the internal combustion engine rivals. Additionally, it's much better priced than the Kona and makes a whole lot of sense for city slickers

Interesting pricing. This should make the Nexon India's most value-for-money EV. Looks stunning as well! Really can't find fault except the fact that it doesn't get side airbags.

PS is the 300 km range from ARAI or is it real world?
