And this is where it misses out on the 'ground up design'! Inside space will not be liberated as expected!

Per Autocar india, Nexon has been certified with a range of 312 km. This would translate to around 200km range in real life.

I have a genuine question. Why isn't ARAI fixing its system to give meaningful certification of range for EVs? This joke has gone on for too long.

Can you tell us where this is mentioned? Or whether it's just an assumption?

I guess you are asking about the 200kms real range part. It is a guesstimate based on the other EV powered by a PMSM and having a thermally managed battery pack in the market. Kona claims 451 and gives about 300 when driven without any limitations.

So taking the same percentages a real world range of ~ 200kms is being guessed by most folks.

re: Tata builds a Nexon EV. EDIT: Launched at ₹13.99 lakhs

I think we finally have some clarity on the real world range, I have some screenshots from the media drive. As expected, real world range will depend on the driving style. The pictures clearly show us that the car will do ~200 kms to ~250 kms on a full charge.

Hope the detectives hold for the moment, spare this product, stop downplaying the product. Leave the assessment to the real prospective buyers, good if you want to help the prospective buyers with your detective services but be sure that you assess all the companies and their products without any bias.

Dear detectives(who showed up on this thread) have you ever similarly and persistently pulled down other OEMs for the unsafe structures and their negligent attitude towards user safety which is more important than the range, fit & finish, and features. Hope the sense prevails.

Enough of berating the Tata.

While I agree about the speculation going a bit out of hand, I disagree about berating the product. We are all keen on this enthusiast forum to better understand a relatively new offering in the market.

This isn’t about other OEM’s superiority, it’s about making an informed purchase/decision

I absolutely love and respect Tata products

Would not be ideal to compare with a single screenshot, unless we know how exactly the car was driven till that point. Media drives usually involve spirited driving, acceleration runs, a lot of idling with a/c on during shooting, very slow speed tracking runs to get the moving shots etc.

These aren't 'real world' conditions.

re: Tata builds a Nexon EV. EDIT: Launched at ₹13.99 lakhs

So there are some videos on YouTube about the product. Came here to post them and see other members have already done it. Thank you all for the effort.

I thought there was an embargo on any review at the moment.

To the usual suspects who come into every Tata associated thread and leave snide comments berating others for leaving anything other than glowing positive comments about Tata products please note that you could choose to not visit the thread.

Also, if you are concerned about the prospective buyers being discouraged from purchasing a product just by looking at the range speculated over multiple forums on the internet, you would just be insinuating that they are not smart enough to form their own opinions once the full blown reviews start pouring out.

I'm not sure if ARAI certified the Kona to deliver 451 kms or whether it was Hyundai's claim. Tata claimed 300+ kms and ARAI certified it to be 312 kms.

Guesstimating probable range is fine but a blanket statement is unnecessary. You called it a guess, that's perfectly fine. The reviews will be out in a week's time and we will have a better understanding of the same.

None of the estimates on distance will be accurate, not even the MID reading because driving conditions and drivers change all the time. I have been able to muster a 15kmpl on my brother's Outlander which I use occasionally, while he manages between 8-10 on it.
