With a real-life range expected around 220km, and an average of 15-20km drive to work (one-way), we are talking of charging almost once every 5-7 days, that too an overnight-charging how we charge our mobile phones. How difficult is this?

Like it or not, this is the future and yes being an early adopter comes with its own risks, but the competitors are around around 6-8L costlier. Plus the maintenance and running costs of EVs are much lower. This coupled with a great warranty on the most "unknown" piece of the puzzle, this is not that bad a deal as it may seem at first.

Re: Scoop! Tata builds a Nexon EV

If others err , it's discussed and it's closed. If others err again, it's discussed and closed again. Period.

If Tata errs, it's discussed, it stays open, it is recollected with every new Tata launch. It creeps into every Tata thread. People will recollect Indica at Altroz's launch, few will even say, 'hey look I can see Indica in Altroz's design'!

Haters are going to hate it forever and ever, that's some evergreen hatred, no matter what, it stays.

It's time Tata should march ahead unabashedly.

(Disclaimer: Its my second car meant for city driving so maybe am not thinking much about range anxiety etc though I feel its not going to be an issue anyways in 6 months)
Well said guys, this is the perfect 2nd car for many people. I might even be considering this in future as my 1st car and keep my 650cc bike for long travels. 200 kms range is perfect for me, my farmhouse is 110kms away from home and I travel quite frequently. This is the best option for short city commute too who travel by car daily, they will save alot of fuel.

I did some math to calculate how much do you save if one was to consider Nexon XZ+ with all 3 power-trains.
I have not added the registration cost of EV, as I am unsure. Also the frequent maintenance for ICE engines with service costs are not included.

Where as, for Nexon, it was exact opposite, I knew the performance and features already, didn't excite me that much but the pricing, it just threw me off guard. Going for XZ+ version.

They can certainly take over the taxi market on the Mumbai-Pune sector .
It is almost Rs.1000 cheaper for every return trip than a equivalent diesel car.

If Gadkari keeps his promise and actually gives 50% concession to EVs on tolls, that becomes 1250 per trip.
May be "wishful thinking", but if it does happen, atleast it will make it attractive for DISCOMs to put up fast chargers
If the taxi can get fully charged in 2 hrs and make a return trip, yes, Nexon will rule that highway! I think it is some 160-170km right?

Amazing indeed.

Tata Nexon EV launched at 13.99L

Source: https://gaadiwaadi.com/tata-nexon-ev...ange-features/

Nexon EV launched at 13.99L.

"With eight-year/1.6 lakh km standard warranty for electric motor and battery pack, the Nexon EV is claimed capable of 312 km range on a single charge... Tata Nexon EV is equipped with a 30.2 kWh Li-ion battery pack and a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor with nominal voltage of 320 V. The power output stands at 129 PS and the peak torque is 245 Nm. The electric motors drive only the front wheels of this e-SUV."

Hope it is a good EV with good real world range and no niggles, and won't spoil the party of the regular Nexon.

Re: Tata Nexon EV launched at 13.99L

That's a very tempting price. Looking forward to know the real world range. Aren't there some SOPs in place for EVs? How does the price translate afterwards?
Love the Teal blue color in the EV.
This car will sell. It seems sorted and TATA has moved in to this segment early.

Re: Tata Nexon EV launched at 13.99L

Great pricing by Tata. If they deliver on whatever they are claiming regarding range and battery life, I am sure they will be able to sell in good numbers. This car has great potential to start new chapter in Indian EV market.

Seeing this pricing, just one question, why Hyundai Kona is so costly??

OTR under 15 Lakhs? That is terrific pricing. I think it will cost under 15 Lakhs even in Bangalore after all Govt. exemptions.

I don't believe it will be such a good idea to run this on the highway. EVs at the current moment are great for replacing city commuting. The range will rapidly reduce if driven on highway continuosly at high speeds, as for EV, higher speed means more energy.

Re: Tata Nexon EV launched at 13.99L

I think this can be big for Tata. Both the other EVs Kona and Hector are 20+ and as mentioned Mahindra is still not here.

Would love a comparison of cost-savings between regular Nexon and this EV.

re: Tata builds a Nexon EV. EDIT: Launched at ₹13.99 lakhs

The Nexon EV could not have been priced better. Kudos to Tata for this bold move Not only does the car look smashing, it is absolute VFM (especially the mid variant) as it delivers 80-90% of what Kona and ZS do, but at 60-65% of the price!! Icing on the cake is the reassuring 8-year warranty on the battery pack - just superb! I am strongly inclined to swap my e2o for it, very soon. This could be the perfect EV for city runs as well as short highway hauls, which should satisfy the requirements of 80% private car owners I believe.

All the best Tata

Re: Tata Nexon EV launched at 13.99L

That's an amazing price. The combination of a good price and charging stations at their showrooms should really help kick start the EV adoption.
