An undisguised test mule of the MG EZS electric SUV has been spotted on the Vadodara-Halol highway.

The EZS is an all-electric version of the MG ZS. It is a 5-seater SUV that has wraparound tail lights and a dual-tone rear bumper with integrated reflectors. The car also has roof rails, shark fin antenna and a faux skid plate finished in silver.

The EZS is expected to be powered by a 52.5 kWh lithium-ion battery that is said to have a maximum range of 350-400 km on a single charge.

EZS battery capacity is 44.5 kWh not 52.5 kWh. Range of 350-400 kms is mostly based on unrealistic ARAI range. As per WLTP (European system) EZS (44.5 kWh) has a range of 262 kms and Hyundai Kona (39.2 kWh) has range of 289 kms.

Yes. Please quote EPA or WLTP range for the global models when they are available. ARAI range is a big lie.

Re: MG EZS electric SUV to be built in India

if the 52.5kwh does exist then it could do 350 to 400km on WLTP or NEDC, ARAI could rate it at 600km

P.S: I couldn't find any mention of 52.5kwh EV being currently sold by MG, this might be a facelift or a typo provided to every indian journalist.

It doesn't. Even in the UK, it's the 44.5kwh motor that does service. Don't think they'll be introducing something better than what is already on sale abroad. At least they're giving us something on par. In India, we are used to poorer products as compared to their global counterparts

Re: MG EZS electric SUV to be built in India

Does anybody happen to know if bookings are open? Or anywhere we can formally register interest so we're given priority? I walked into the goa showroom and they were clueless.

Is this not electric KUV100? The rear resemblance is extraordinary. E-KUV is also expected to be launched, so it may well be a case of misidentification.

KUV is hatchback size, this is almost Creta size.
Besides GJ registration is an easy give away as MG has it's plant in Gujarat.

The official launch is in December and that's probably when dealers will start taking pre bookings. The car will reach the showrooms in January. The dealership staff will probably go for a training camp at the end of November so that they're knowledgeable enough to answer the queries about electric cars and ZS EV in particular.

Re: MG EZS electric SUV to be built in India

It has a very unique face! So unique that at the same moment it reminds me of a Volvo, an Alfa-Romeo, a new generation Ertiga and a bit of AMG!!! Considering all these look quite good - have to say good job MG!

Overall from all sides & dimensions, I feel this car looks much better than the Kona. Talking specifically about the "looks" only. Don't know anything else about the MG EV.

This will be an incredible brand-building exercise for MG. It'll instantly make the brand "cool" in the eyes of the moneyed.

Although I remain a high-revving fan, I am really looking forward to comprehensively testing the EZS & Kona, in our typical Official Review way .
All that matters is that localisation will be enough to bring the car (at least ex showroom costs) - South of 20 Lakhs - but the question is will it? MG EZS holds promise considering how MG priced the larger Hector! Any news regarding price- if they keep equating pricing to the Kona then, those who just want to go Electric will be discouraged yet again (those who buy Seltos in the thousands, may just make the Switch if at least it is priced equal to the top end GT Line)... I hope Rajeev Chhaya will consider making it affordable (more). The EZS costs around 19 Lakhs (inclusive of discount from government & for first adopters) in UK. Hope they do something like that here!

The ZS EV will be cheaper than the Kona but will still be priced upwards of Rs 20 lakhs. It's a segment above the Kona, almost as big as a Creta, so you get a lot more space so I think the pricing will be justified.

Sneak peek of the ZS EV TV Ad

A sneak peek of the advertisement for the India bound ZS EV. Notice the green plates with Haryana registration.

And from the rear something about it reminds of the KIA Sportage also!

Yes, it looks longer than the Creta in fact in the pictures. Reality may differ, but for now, seems larger. If its anything around 22L - its certainly tremendous VFM considering diesel Creta/XUV500 top trims nudge 20L OTR as well.
