Could be incorrect . When I visited the MG dealership here in Christchurch last month, they said that they have stopped taking any bookings for now. They may have forgot to mention about the special pricing offer.

I also asked them about the scheduled delivery dates to which the young lad excitedly said that it would be in December. However, I called them today and they said it would be in 2020

Re: MG EZS electric SUV to be built in India

And the teasers for the ZS EV continue to feature on the brand's Twitter handle:

Link to Twitter post

The Twitter post hints at the 'autonomous' features so maybe we'll be seeing some of them in the India spec variant too.

The ZS EV in the UK includes a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems ( ADAS) presented as a first for MG. These include features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Assist featuring automatic low-speed steering, Blind Spot Detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Alert Control System.

MG ZS EV to be available via self-drive rentals from January 2020.

Lithium Urban Technologies has announced its partnership with new entrant MG Motor India, to offer the latter’s upcoming ZS EV on its self-drive and rental platform. The electric SUV, set to debut in India on December 5 this year, will join Lithium’s fleet of EVs from January 2020 – the month of the SUV’s official launch.

Lithium says that the SUV will be available to customers for inter-city travel and corporate use along with claiming a range of 300km for the electric SUV.

The ZS EV is MG’s second model for India after the Hector with the electric SUV set to be introduced in India in a phased manner. The e-SUV will initially go on sale in five cities – Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad – with bookings for the model also set to open next month.

The ZS EV is expected to be offered with a 150hp electric motor that will draw power from a 44.5kWh lithium-ion battery. In this spec, the SUV has a range of 335km on the older NEDC test cycle and 262km on the newer WLTP testing cycle. Charging times are expected to be around 7hr for a full charge via a 7kW AC charger, while it will take 40min to charge from 0- 80 percent with a 50kW DC fast charger. Exact details of the India-spec model will be revealed closer to the time of its debut next month.

The carmaker is already begun to set up fast-charging stations at key locations across the above five cities with ZS EV customers getting free access to the facility for a limited time post the purchase of the electric SUV. Earlier in the year MG also announced a team-up with Delta Electronics India to install AC chargers – the standard charger that will be offered with the EV – either at the buyer’s home or office, as per their convenience.

MG will be locally assembling the ZS EV in India at its Halol plant, in order to keep prices in check. MG's Hyundai Kona rival is expected to be priced around Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom) upon launch.

Lithium Urban Technologies will also add 500 Tata Vehicles to it's fleet. 400 - Tigor EV and 100 - Nexon EV.

It'll be interesting to see what numbers of the ZS EV are added to it's fleet.

Re: MG EZS electric SUV to be built in India

Saw one Zs- EV near Mekhri Circle in Bangalore, looks nice from the front as well as rear, wheels seem quite small for the size of the vehicle. It does not try to stand apart from normal vehicles in terms of looks, like how Kona EV looks quite a bit different.

Re: MG EZS electric SUV to be built in India

Spotted a red ZS EV yesterday in Thane late last night. Followed it very briefly for about 100m, before it turned into the lane leading to MG service centre. Was being driven rather spiritedly.

First impression - Have to say, in that brief instance, the car did look quite premium from behind, and it took me a moment to register that it is indeed an MG, and not a high end brand.

I do not recall the car running green plates.

Re: MG EZS electric SUV to be built in India

With just 10 days remaining for Mg eZs Ev official launch , we already know most of the technical details about the Ev.

Now, the only thing remains to be known is the so called “Introductory Price”, 1st in Segment, best in class type of information along with the most important how much is the ARAI certified range.

Hopefully, on 5th Dec we have the price as well.

With Hector, MG India disclosed the price in the third media interaction.

Mg eZs Ev is already available in UK & Sri Lanka.

Infact, MG eZs had a great start in the UK with 2,000 orders placed in the first two months since launch (the first 1,000 in two weeks).

Here, is a closer look at the Brochure’s of Mg eZs Ev from Uk & Sri Lanka

I guess Sri Lanka one would be more close to Indian Variant

MG Motor India partners with Exicom for second-life use of ZS EV batteries

Under the partnership, Exicom plans to re-deploy MG ZS EV batteries at the end of their useful life with the car and put them through a controlled process of evaluation, disassembly, and repackaging to design custom battery packs for non-automotive applications.

MG’s partnership with Exicom is aimed at dispelling reservations around the disposal of used EV batteries.

New Delhi: Carmaker MG (Morris Garages) Motor India on Tuesday has partnered with Exicom Tele-Systems for second-life use of ZS EV batteries. Under the partnership, Exicom plans to re-deploy MG ZS EV batteries at the end of their useful life with the car and put them through a controlled process of evaluation, disassembly, and repackaging to design custom battery packs for non-automotive applications, the company said in a statement.

Rajeev Chaba, President & MD, MG Motor India said, “Our latest partnership focuses on second-life applications for used EV battery packs, to ensure environment-friendly battery disposal will only serve to bolster the country’s progress towards this critical objective.”

According to the company, MG’s partnership with Exicom is aimed at dispelling reservations around the disposal of used EV batteries. The ZS EV’s battery packs, at the end of their useful life, would be used in automotive applications and will be recycled instead of being sent to landfill sites. The re-use of used EV battery packs will also reduce the dependence on the limited resources available around the globe. These battery packs will be used in a host of non-automotive applications such as home inverters, commercial & industrial UPS, and renewable energy storage.

Anant Nahata, MD, Exicom Tele-Systems – Exicom said, “We are extremely delighted to associate with MG which is focused on harnessing the EV ecosystem in India. Making electric mobility mainstream is one of the biggest challenges and opportunities we face. E-mobility also represents an important opportunity to overhaul our energy infrastructure and make necessary investments in renewables and new grid technologies.”

MG Motor India has also launched #ChangeWhatYouCan, a global campaign featuring Benedict Cumberbatch that raises awareness about the critical need to shift towards green mobility.
IMO, MG is making all the right moves. They must have got a real good marketing strategists at hand.

True that they are making the right moves, I hope they manage to price eZs Ev in a way that it undercuts it's direct rival Hyundai Kona by at least 2-3 lakh.

Anything above 20 lakh, it may struggle!!

So, Hyundai, MG India, Tata Motors will be having a proper Ev let's see how Msil India and Mahindra react it's really sad not to see manufacturer like Renault /Nissan who do have Ev tech not taking Indian market scene and opportunity.

Re: MG EZS electric SUV to be built in India

MG is making all the right moves before entering the market.
1. Built Fast Chargers in launch cities and tied up with 3rd party which specialises in that activity, where as Hyundai was all talk of having fast chargers at their dealer but no action. it was vapourware
2. Tying with Exicom to reuse the batteries and not leave it to customers to think of it 5 to 6 years down the lane, no competitor has this strategy
3. Gave their cars to "influencers" before launch. Hyundai didn't do anything of that sort, Nexon has done a web series with Milind and Ankita but I am not sure how many people got influenced.
4. They are using social media and Ads to target their audience, where as for Kona, i didn't see one Ad. Tata on the other hand has been hitting the Ads vigourously.
5. Price -> Kona - 23.71L, Nexon - 15L - 17L, MG -> 20 - 22L ???

I am hoping that MG is going to undercut Kona and the Range they advertise would be the actual range and not ARAI certified. Please don't mislead people like Kona did.

I just hope MG and Nexon EV gets the success for all their effort they are putting, and MG doesn't get sidelined due to "china" branding.

So, true ”MG India” has been doing it the ideal way, all boxes ticked, isn't it.

MG India is coming from a successful reception of the MG eZs Ev in the UK around 3,000 units is a great start for an Ev.

While you are right Hyundai just surprised us with eKona launch, while it was already offered in many countries other than India.

Hyundai has kept the target sales of eKona in these respective countries to 300-500 units

For, India target of eKona sales by Hyundai India is kept at 500 units a year currently it's being offered in 16 Indian cites.

While Mg India has kept a sale target of 2,000 - 3,000 units a year, initially they are launching in 5 cities, to achieve this they need to expand further plus pricing is key hence, it needs to be between 18-22 lakh, certainly undercutting the price of eKona will be their primary aim.

Hyundai Kona looks crossover rather than SUV whatever Hyundai may call it.

While MG eZs looks like an urban SUV which is its biggest advantage over eKona.

While Hyundai eKona is a superb Ev, it still is giving 390-380 km to its owners on one charge, but yes lesser than ARAI claimed 452 km.

I think Arai tests the EVs at 50 km/h.

ARAI tests the Ev on MIDC (Modified Indian Driving Cycle) mode, or ‘ideal’ conditions, in the EU the Ev is tested on the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure, which mimics real-world driving.

Hopefully this will change in future.

We may never get the claimed range either the Arai or Eu ones as real life conditions can't be mimicked.
