Govt. invites proposals to set up EV charging stations

According to a media report, the Government of India has invited proposals to set up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, as part of FAME II.

Proposals have been invited from companies to develop charging infrastructure in cities with a population of 10 lakh and above (as per 2011 census) and smart cities. Proposals from satellite towns connected to the seven metros, along with major cities of special categories states / UTs and capitals of all states / UTs are also invited.

Reports suggest that the government plans to deploy 1,000 EV charging stations. As far as possible, these should be connected with 'grid-connected solar power plant' of required capacity as per Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) guidelines.

The last date for submitting the proposals is August 20, 2019.
