These fast-charging points will be installed in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Last week, the company inaugurated 7 charging points in Pune. 45 more charging points are said to come up in the other four cities in the next 2 months.

The chargers will be operated by Tata Power. The first 50 chargers will adhere to Bharat Standard (15 kW). The company also plans to set up 30-50 kW DC chargers based on CCS2 standards.

At present, Tata Power operates 42 charging points in Mumbai and has set up a total of 85 points in other cities, including Hyderabad, Bangalore and Delhi.

Earlier this month, Tata Motors had announced that it plans to introduce four electric cars in the next 18 months. These are likely to include electric versions of the Nexon and Altroz.

Tata is also reportedly working on a Tigor EV with longer range for private buyers. At present, the Tigor EV is only available for fleet operators. In its current configuration, it offers a maximum range of 142 km (MIDC cycle).

Had the misfortuna of going to the Tata power car charging station on Eastern epress highway Vikhroli. Even after calling repeatedly and being told that the charging station is working, once I reached there, surprise of surprises, they said the whole thing is under test and nothing is working.
Lovely folks.

For everyone who complains infrastructure isn't there, this should be a cue. There's isn't any drama around setting up a charging station. The infrastructure, that's the grid already exist and decent EVs can be charged at home. For the 1% time, the 300 km range is exceeded fast charging will pup like mushrooms everywhere. You'll see a lot of DC fast charging being installed this year.

Tata Power to set up 700 EV charging stations in India by December 2021, aims to expand its EV charging mission to high-traffic density National Highways and also popular tourist places like Mahabaleshwar, Mussoorie, Coorg & Dwarka.

Quote:
Sandeep Bangia, Head — EV, HA & ESCO Business, Tata Power, said, Highways are an important focus area for us as the main use of a public charging network is for inter-city travel. We are identifying specific high-traffic density highway locations along the key city pairs like Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Jaipur, Bangalore-Chennai, Hyderabad-Vijayawada and others to put up chargers.
Quote:
Similarly, we have identified tourist destinations like Mussoorie, Mahabaleshwar, Coorg, Dwarka and such locations where EV owners from a city would go for a driving excursion. We are putting up fast DC chargers at logical pit-stops along these highways where one may take a quick chai break while his/her car gets topped up.”
