Camouflaged Maruti WagonR spied | Is this the electric version? EDIT: Axed, but testing continues

Speculations of this test Mule:
- 7 seat WagonR
- Stingray version of WagonR
- Nexa bound XL WagonR - Crossover >

Spied with 15" alloy wheels as in the Ignis.

Very thought provoking AND not unlikely at all given their trend off late. Maybe as part of cost cuts during slowdown, the R&D team is given a simple project. Convert cars that are used by taxi segments into "Premium" Nexa offerings to make them interesting for the urban buyer looking for exclusivity & premium buying experience. This car makes absolute sense to be XL5. For the money paid, the latest gen Waggie sure is "Xtra Large".

It dwarfs the Swift from most angles visually in parking lots & makes the Hyundai Venue look like a B1 hatchback if parked besides. So if given slightly better interiors, larger alloys & sharper colour shades - it can easily be sold through Nexa. Externally the car has matured enough in current generation to move to Nexa by Maruti's current standards.

The major styling revisions are expected up front with a redesigned grille, headlamps and bumper along with the addition of LED Daytime Running Lights. It may also get projector headlamps and higher ground clearance of around 180 mm. The interior could adorn a black theme.

If Maruti is going to launch a Nexa version of all their cars, I wonder how the Maruti Arena dealers would react if it cannibalizes their sales. I mean for some extra bucks, if one prefers a Nexa version over the Arena version !!

Most Nexa dealers also own the respective Arena dealerships too.

Please add CVT, more airbags and will be a great option for elderly, ladies and those shopping and school dropping trips.
Wagon R is a really convenient no non sense city runabout car with easy ingress & good visibility. It misses the above and better build quality too would be great

and then one can call it self drive mini innova

It's the other way; it becomes difficult for Nexa to sell their cars. Arena guys would simply say, "saar, both sold in Arena & Nexa are exactly the same, Nexa is having higher price because its premium". If someone asks what is premium, then there will be a good story built up around on looks, tab format explanation, Nexa guys uniform, Darjeeling Tea etc

Those who fall for it becomes Arena customers & those who fall for "premium" experience falls for Nexa. Either way it's both side of the pocket for MSIL

This will sell for sure, always loved the WagonR(infact I love all tallboy designs for the convenience they offer) but somehow didn't like the current WagonR's seats and few other interiors and also I prefer older one's dimensions.

A premiumized WagonR, I love it.

re: Camouflaged Maruti WagonR spied | Is this the electric version? EDIT: Axed, but testing continues

Is it the WagonR EV??
The new Waggie has a visible exhaust pipe. I have tried to locate it in the spy-shot pictures. Its visible in the standard WagonR. The test mule has no exhaust pipe visible in any angle. I'm suspecting its the soon to be launched WagonR EV on road tests perhaps? LED lighting surely makes sense on an EV to save power. It also makes better sense than launching a commuter car via Nexa suddenly after 1.5 decades of regular sale.

This is the EV Wagon-R people, set for 2020+ debut. But Nexa, I am not sure. Knowing the Suzuki people, they would probably start a separate sales channel for the same.

Once every single car gets SUV-fied, our favorite type of cars will start turning heads again

Hope Wagon-r gets fat by few more Kilograms, just like XL6. Everything else is already spot on.

This indeed looks promising, a wagonr on steroids is surely something many of us have envisioned.
Apparently this also means maruti isn’t very optimistic for Ignis, only they had to fix few aesthetic bits, which is otherwise a very capable car .
