| ![]() Wish Tata all the best. Promising a 8yrs warranty on battery is a tall task. They could have got away with something like 5 yrs. The Battery management system is the most complicated part of an EV. The liquid cooling can probably reduce the thermal imbalance between cells. It is also good to hear that they are taking into consideration the Indian weather. The only thing left is to make the system as reliable as it can be. That would make or break the company. |

| ![]() Well, 8 years warranty is becoming standard on batteries across the world for EVs (USA and Europe). All the automakers are guaranteeing 8 years/160,000 kms warranty with minimum 70% state of health. Even in India, Hyundai is giving the 8 years/160,000 kms warranty on Kona Electric battery. |

| ![]() On the one hand, you have all of this happening. And on the other hand, you have lumbering diesel vehicles such as Tata's flagship - the Hexa. When will the twain meet, even if only in the hybrid format? This platform - the Ziptron - seems suited for powering lightweight hatchbacks and sedans. (And I personally feel that electric cars ought to be made in a 2 seater format, to enable far greater ranges.) But anyway, one somehow feels like an electric or a hybrid Hexa is a distant mirage at this point... |

| ![]() High voltage low current is much better than low voltage high current resource for same power levels. Not only it cuts the losses but also allows the Industrial grade technology to be used cheaply in harness the potential which will use otherwise a costly technology. |

| ![]() this is a fantastic news and the ranges seem to make it pretty practical. Charging infra has to catch up at some point and there has to be a start somewhere. Tata is indeed doing its bit and I'm super happy to see this. Im sure over time more powerful batteries can be designed /produced to drive bigger vehicles. The etrons and ipaces have clearly established its quite possible to have 300+bhp for heavy SUVs through electric motors. |

By the way - does it seem like an FWD implementation? Generally EVs prefer to have lower rated (and cheaper to make + longer lasting) motors in a sort of AWD implementation. This also gives a bit of "redundancy". In the schematics that Zip-Tron presentations have, there doesn't seem to be any active drive component on the rear axle & its just rolling wheels? That would mean much stronger motors would be needed as just 2 will do all the weight pulling. Perhaps thats why the 300V application? Just out of curiosity, what happens if one fails in such cases? (Not sure if ZipTron is 2 motor, but just curious.) Does it mean the vehicle simply stops and goes into limp mode? Or it will have a considerable torque steer with only 1 side peddling? (Remember - Ross scaring Monica telling Ben is running in circles ![]() | |
