MG partners with eChargeBays to set up EV chargers @ home

MG Motor India has partnered with Delhi-based start-up eChargeBays to set up charging infrastructure at the homes of EV buyers.

As part of the partnership, MG will send technicians to identify the best way in which MG ZS EV buyers can install an EV charger at home.

The carmaker is planning to launch the EZS electric SUV in India in December 2019. The EZS is a 5-seater SUV that is likely to be powered by a 52.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. The battery is said to offer a maximum range of 350-400 km on a single charge.

The EZS is likely to be imported as CKD and will be assembled at MG's Gujarat plant.

. Hope eChargeBays is competent as early adopters of EVs in India will need a lot of hand-holding. FYI: Even when you buy the Kona, Hyundai will install a home charger for you. It's included in the price of the car, but there will be additional install-related costs (more details here).

Unless it a wall charger with high power, these installs can be done easily by any electrician.
My charging point was installed by our apartment electrician with inputs from Mahindra.

It is good to know that MG is taking this seriously and are getting professionals for setting up charging point, a professional installation with enough safeguard will alleviate any fears of fire or other incidents.
