Mazda unveiled the MAZDA MX-30 for the first time as a reference exhibit at the 46th Tokyo Motor Show 2019.

The MX-30 is Mazda's third-generation product and is the first mass-produced pure EV for Mazda.

On the 19th May 2020, Mazda began production of the all-new Mazda MX-30, the company's first all-electric vehicle, at Ujina plant No. 1 in Hiroshima, Japan.

MX-30 comes equipped with e-Skyactiv electric drivetrain technology, it is powered by 35.5kWh lithium-ion battery which gives a range of 200km according to WLTP cycle. The battery supports DC fast-charging up to 50 kW, with which it can be charged to 80 per cent in 30 to 40 minutes. It is a front wheel drive vehicle, driven by AC synchronous electric motor which produces 107kW(145PS) power. Mazda says that the battery was sized to strike optimum balance between the driving range and CO2 emissions from LCA(Life Cycle Assessment) perspective.

MX-30 design is based on the company's new award winning Kodo design philosophy. One of the design highlights of the car is centre-pillarless freestyle doors. Interior features a driver-centric cockpit with a floating infotainment system, a seven inch touch screen panel to control air-conditioner. Also Mazda used a range of environment friendly materials in the car's interior like cork, fabric made with fibres from recycled plastic bottles.

The car is expected to arrive at European dealerships by this autumn and is now available for pre-orders.

MAZDA's MX-30 scores high in EURO NCAP tests - gets 5 star rating!

Mazda joins the growing list of debutant EVs with its new electric MX-30. Naturally, the CX-30 based MX-30 is heavier than its combustion-engined sister, but still delivers an impressive 91 percent for adult occupant protection, thanks to its compatible front-end structure and new far-side restraints.
