Ford has announced that its all-electric Mustang Mach-E will now be manufactured in China by Changan Ford for local customers in the country. It will have an estimated range of over 600 kilometers on a single charge.

It said that China’s electric vehicle industry and government policies had undergone major changes since the agreements were signed in 2017 and 2018, prompting Ford’s decision. Ford didn’t specify which changes triggered its move.

Last week, Ford said its China joint venture with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co would start making all-electric Mustang Mach-E vehicles.

In a statement on Thursday, Ford said it would pursue a more “flexible business model in China” that would see it utilise its existing operations in the country and elsewhere, and build related business centres.

Ford has gone down the Mustang route with its biggest electric release yet- a Mustang Mach E! This is probably the biggest outcome of the crossover/SUV brigade taking over every other car form factor, with the Mustang's iconic shape being replaced by a more traditional crossover body. The interiors seems to have taken inspiration from the Tesla lineup, with a huge tablet acting as an interface for most of the car's functions. Thoughts on this approach?

Some Mach-E owners have reported the 12-volt batteries in their vehicles were dead after plugging in, preventing those cars from operating.



Ford filed a service bulletin with NHTSA saying that a software glitch is responsible for the 12-volt battery dying.



The affected Mach-Es were manufactured prior to February 3, and owners of the affected vehicles can have the issue resolved at a dealership.

Ford is lending a Mach-E to all residents of UK’s smallest town Fordwich to prove that EVs work in the countryside



Ford is lending to all 380 residents of Fordwich a Mustang Mach-E.

Research conducted by OnePoll that was published in March showed that 82% of people in the UK’s countryside would not feel comfortable buying an EV as their next vehicle. The numbers drop slightly in small towns and villages to 79% and 76%, respectively

Ford is going out and trying to convince the people of Fordwich. The test will last three days and the company has renamed the town “Fordswitch” for the duration of it



Ford has also teamed up with British Gas to install a public charging point in the town, as access to chargers is often cited as a barrier to EV adoption.

“Over the next few days, we want to show how even the smallest town can make the electric switch!” said Lisa Brankin, managing director of Ford Britain and Ireland. “Ford is committed to helping our current and future customers to go all-in on the road to a fully electric future by supporting them on that journey.”

“We are so proud of our town and preservation is something that is incredibly important to us so we were keen to see how simple it would be to switch over to a more environmentally friendly vehicle,” said Fordwich Mayor Philip Lewis.

Some Mach-E customers and their neighbours here in the Netherlands are quite annoyed by the sound the car makes while charging. It sounds more like a battery coolant circulation pump / fan motor sound. Ford said that an upcoming software update should fix this issue. Customers as well as their neighbors are looking forward to it. For 11kW AC charging, I wonder why Ford keeps the cooling system at full power. I have never heard any sound when my Tesla model 3 charges at 11kW AC. Also not have heard such issues with VW IDs or other EVs, esp. at such low AC charging speeds.

A Ford Mustang Mach-E police concept has been unveiled at the Emergency Services Show in Birmingham, following several requests from forces around the country to evaluate the electric SUV.

The car is based on the Standard Range AWD version of the SUV, but Ford plans to offer an Extended Range model with the choice of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Seven UK forces - the Metropolitan Police, Sussex, Surrey, South Wales, Dyfed-Powys, Devon and Cornwall, and Police Scotland - have either tested the Mustang Mach-E or asked for a full report on a specially built prototype.

Ford Mustang Mach-E passes Michigan State Police test as 1st all-electric pursuit vehicle.

The Mach-E being tested by the Michigan State Police wasn't any mechanically different than the model sells in showrooms. In terms of styling, it received a blue body with Police decals decorating the exterior.

2021 Ford Mustang E-Mach Recalled Because Windshield And Panoramic Roof Can Pop Out

The defects affect 17,692 vehicles whose windshields may not be well enough affixed to comply with regulations and 13,544 whose glass roof panels have the same issue.


The problem seems to be that the urethane bonding agent is not adhering well enough. That could lead to water leaks or other issues, but more alarmingly, the windshield could detach which, in the case of an accident, will increase the risk of a injury.

Karma, Ford has thrown some serious allegations (2020) on Tesla over quality issues.
Ford said they will make sure their products are niggle free.

Have driven Mustang E-Mach, they are at least half a decade behind Tesla in terms of technology.
