In recent years, there's been trend of micromobility services in urban areas of developed nations. It is not just limited to hiring dockless bikes for last mile commute. In some jurisdictions, you can avail micromobility vehicles either as subscription or buy and own yourself.
In terms of technology apart from conventional bike or scooter board form factors, I have noticed 2 emerging form factors of vehicles.
'Fat tyre scooters' - These scooters are electric, looking imposing due to fat tyres. Battery is installed at footboard. Electric motor is hub of rear wheel.
Fat tyres provide stability and relative self balancing at low speeds. Stator was covered extensively in media due to its radical design. Scooterson has somewhat conventional handlebar and seating position. Skooza is another such scooter available for purchase.
Another kind of micromobility vehicles includes electric quads. Triggo from Poland features variable chassis geometry which lets it widen the width for parking or enclosed traffic space.
It has seating for two. A startup company in US, Nimbus is developing enclosed vehicle, to be made available as subscription as alternative to owning cars.
As alternative to noisy ATVs, France based Swincar has developed vehicles for off-road usage.
Hope, such vehicles are developed and launched in India.
