A few detailed reviews of the 2022 Recharge Twin model (which is same as 2023 Recharge Twin, apart from facelift):

Summary: 210 miles (336km) range on the highway

Summary: Great car with terrific looks, packaging and performance. Kinda meh with the Price and Range

https://insideevs.com/news/532110/20...c40-epa-range/

Summary:
~239 miles (384 km) range in the city (with regen braking)
~202 miles (325km) on the highway
~223 miles (359 km) range combined.

So, as SKP-auto suggested there is a chance to squeeze a bit more mileage than 320km in city and mixed driving

Also, it’s interesting to note that Volvo USA mentions 223 miles (359km), vs 418km listed on Volvo India website. Maybe USA mentions EPA and India mentioned In WLTP

With the MY23 models finally appearing in international media, the display vehicles are likely to reach dealerships in September itself.

Re: Volvo XC40 Recharge Electric SUV, now launched at Rs. 55.90 lakhs

Anyone who booked get a call from Volvo to move from Quotation Confirmation to Vehicle allocation phase?

The Bangalore dealer basically mentioned they are hands off and its Volvo directly handling everything. All the dealer did was KYC.

No progress to vehicle allocation and I received similar messaging from the BLR dealer.. they seem to be optimistic about getting decent allocation to minimize waiting times, but nothing is guaranteed!!

That helps. Was there any call from Volvo / dealer to go over quotation?

Thank you for these data points. Most useful. If in Indian city driving and with our higher ambient temperatures it can do 300 kms as a round figure it would be very convenient at least for driving within Delhi-NCR and immediate towns. This car or its subsequent improved models is one in my sights for the near term future.

A Dutch magazine Autoreview does these tests for most electric cars in the market, esp. at highway speeds as that is the worst case mileage, because air drag is the most influential parameter when it comes to range. In February 2021, they did the test (temperatures were around 5-10 degC) for XC40 Recharge twin at 100km/h and 130km/h.

Here are the results:

Temperature: 5-10degC
Speed | Range | Efficiency
100km/h | 326km | 230 Wh/km
130km/h | 228km | 329 Wh/km

source - pls use google translate plugin in browser

And I think, based on usage and Indian weather conditions, 300km is easily possible. However note that 300km is for full 100%SoC, but it is advisable to charge between 20-80% for most days. In that case, the usable range would be around 200kms. Looking forward to learning from your EV experience soon

My personal suggestion would be to wait for the C40 as it seems to have more range than XC40 due to it's coupe design, which is aerodynamically better than XC40. Also, in some tests, C40 seems to get more range than XC40. Here is an overview of Bjorn Nyland's test results. And when did we last get a Volvo coupe in India!

PS: Autoreview ranked the cars with most range based on their tests, some models of which is available in Indian market. Here is the link.

Please accept my thanks for your taking the effort to pen down this post with loads of useful data. I will be buying an EV around mid-2024 i.e. 2 years from now. The XC40 and its descendants like the C40 (useful input there on energy consumption) are an option. Given my so far happy experience with Volvo over almost 8 years it is a likely option. I suppose stop-start city traffic the range might actually be higher due to slower speeds and regenerative braking.

Given your rich knowledge on EVs could you point me to any post of yours where you might have explained WLTP versus EPS range methods. Thanks in advance. In return you can ask me any question on aircrafts any time of the day.

It is nice to see we had a similar discussion about range test standards in another thread where the driving cycles were discussed. I presume this is the post (Mercedes launches entry level all-electric crossover, the EQA) you are referring to.

Thanks for the trust and just as everyone else here, happy to learn about all things moving.

That’s a really strange way of making a booking page. The same stuff repeated 9 times over, with everything being the same except for the colour.

Quite a disappointing UX, unless I am missing something.

I think the number of options is due to not only the exterior colour but also the two interior colours on offer. Thus for every colour, you can see two entries based on interior trim.

The UX could've been different but this is a good way for them to clearly show what options are available.

Too much cognitive load for a mobile device experience. Not sure about the device you used, but I even failed to notice the second difference you called out.

Was that from Volvo India or your local Volvo dealer? Do you mind sharing the number they called from? I'd like to keep an eye out to receive that important call.
